The world is changing. Can the rule of law keep up?

Climate change, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and new security challenges are testing democratic institutions as never before. The Winter School on Rule of Law, Transitions & Security explores how governments, courts and international institutions adapt to these transitions while safeguarding fundamental rights and democratic accountability.

A joint initiative of Sapienza Università di Roma and the European Law and Governance University (ELGU), the program takes place in Rome from 1–12 February 2027: the first week at Sapienza’s Faculty of Law, the second at the EPLO–ELGU premises. It closes with a research session where participants present their own work.

It was an (educational) blast 👋🏻🎓

The Academy just wrapped up its .

Along with 24 participants from 10+ different countries, students and lecturers dove into "Security, Defense and Judicial Review in Contemporary European Public Law".

Congrats to Ms. Zsofia Papp, winner of this year's Thesis Prize 🏆, awarded in memory of Professor Luis Ortega!

The EPLO and ELGU extends special thanks to the Academy director Dr. Anikó Szalai and to each and every one of the professors who supported this year's session, including Prof. Ioannis Karkalis, /Maurizio Mensi / Panayotis Tsakonas / Violeta Besiveric. Also, special thanks to Prof Paul Graig, for the amazing lecture.

Last but not least, a big "Thank You" to everyone who made this session unforgettable 🫂, closing the curtains in Sounion 🌊 at the Annual Reunion.
