On June 16th, 2026, H.E. Ambassador Yang Yang met with Dr. Kim Eva Dickson, WHO/PAHO Representative to Guyana. The two sides exchanged views on jointly promoting China–LAC and China–Guyana cooperation in the health sector. Counselor Li Hanqing attended.

A small corner, a big step for shared understanding!
On June 15, Ambassador Yang Yang joined UG Vice-Chancellor Dr. Paloma Mohamed-Martin and University Librarian Dr. Simone Bernard to inaugurate the China Book Corner at the UG Library. A collection of books was donated to enrich the library’s resources.
Ambassador Yang highlighted the Corner will serve as a bridge for mutual learning and people-to-people connections, offering Guyanese readers a window into China’s governance philosophy and vibrant culture.
Vice-Chancellor Mohamed-Martin expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the China Book Corner reflects the deep friendship and cultural exchange between our two nations—and will surely spark even greater interest in China among the Guyanese public.

A taste of China at UG!
The Dragon Boat Festival Food & Culture Fair at the University of Guyana brought Chinese traditions and cuisines closer to young Guyanese friends. Beyond the food and festivities, the event highlighted the value of cultural exchange and deepened friendship between the peoples of China and Guyana, especially among the younger generation.
