Carnegie School of Home Economics is Guyana's only Culinary school. The school was founded in 1933 b The course duration vary between one and two years.

Currently, Carnegie offers full-time programs in Catering and Hospitality, Household Management, Commercial Food Preparation, Visual Arts, General Cosmetology, Garment Construction and Interior Decoration. Full-time students are exposed to work attachments in the hospitality industry – at hotels, restaurants, fast food operations, and other catering establishments. Students are also placed in hosp

The Carnegie School of Home Economics wishes to advise the public that registration is currently open for full-time programmes only.

Registration for part-time courses, short courses, and summer programmes is not currently open.

When registration becomes available for any additional courses or programmes, the official notice will be posted on our social platforms.

Members of the public are kindly asked to follow our page for official updates and to refer to the flyers and notices posted for the specific programmes currently being offered.

Applications are now open for full-time programmes at the Carnegie School of Home Economics.

Programmes will be offered at the following locations:

Beterverwagting Practical Instruction Center, Region 4

Fellowship Practical Instruction Center, Region 3

Carnegie School of Home Economics, Durban and High Streets, Georgetown, Region 4

Available programmes include:

1. CVQ Certificate Commercial Food Preparation (Cookery) Level 1

2. CVQ Certificate Garment Making Level 1

3. Diploma in Catering and Hospitality

4. Certificate in General Cosmetology

Application forms are available at the Carnegie School of Home Economics, Durban and High Streets, Georgetown, from 17th June 2026.

Forms can be uplifted from 9:00hrs to 12:00hrs and from 13:00hrs to 15:00hrs.

Early registration is encouraged, especially for persons interested in the Public Service Ministry Scholarship for Commercial Food Preparation and Catering and Hospitality. The scholarship deadline is 31st July 2026.

Garment Construction in focus 🧵

Through the Garment Construction programme at CSHE, participants gain hands-on experience in techniques that build confidence, precision, and practical sewing skills.
