GMSTCI Concludes Community Mines Ranger Training in Region 7, Kangaruma Village

The Guyana Mining School and Training Centre Inc. (GMSTCI) has successfully concluded its Community Mines Ranger Training in Kangaruma Village, with 10 participants completing the programme.

The training reflects the Ministry of Natural Resources’ commitment to strengthening community-level capacity, in keeping with the policy mandate of the Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat.

Following classroom sessions in Map Reading and GPS Navigation, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), and Mining Regulations, participants applied their knowledge during a practical mine-site inspection at Merme Creek, Kangaruma.

As part of the exercise, trainees reviewed relevant mining documents, including licences, permits and operational records associated with mining on the community’s Amerindian titled lands. This practical experience strengthened their ability to monitor mining activities and support compliance with mining regulations within their community.
