Doctors are political! And we want YOU to vote in the 2026 Midterm Elections 🗳️📣

CIR Member Political Organizers all across the country have been mobilizing for our endorsed candidates and measures. We’ve been making calls, knocking on doors, and speaking out to make sure people have a plan to vote and know who the healthcare champions are on the ballot.

Many people say that doctors shouldn’t get involved in politics. But that could not be more contrary to our oath and duty as physicians. The decisions made outside our hospitals directly affect our ability to provide care, and the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

That’s why as union doctors, we advocate for ourselves and our patients in our hospitals… AND at the ballot box.

Tomorrow is Election Day and the last chance to cast your ballot. From our resident work conditions, healthcare, affordability, immigration, big tech—and control of Congress, there’s so much at stake.

We’re flipping NJ-7! 📣💜✊ CIR Member Political Organizers Dr. Max Everett and Dr. Karen Huang joined other SEIU New Jersey State Council workers this weekend to rally and canvass for our endorsed candidate Rebecca Bennett!

NJ-7 is a critical race that will help determine control of the House and we’re mobilizing to elect a leader who will fight for accessible healthcare, standing up to private equity, protecting NJ’s diversity. See you at the polls—let’s win this!

Much like AOC, egg freezing has been on our minds.

Last month, over 500 CIR resident physicians and fellows at Mount Sinai Morningside & West ratified a new union contract with: pay increases, meal allowance, bonuses, and… in a historic first for CIR/SEIU physicians in New York, funding for elective egg freezing!

We fought hard for this benefit because family building is especially hard for resident physicians. With many other contracts still in negotiations, including at Flushing and Jamaica Hospitals (MediSys), NYPresbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and Bronxcare Health, we hope other residents can be supported this way.

Because we deserve to be whole people.
