“The best way to study history is to stand inside it.”✨

First-year Master’s students who chose the World Cultures and Heritage Major at the Ca’ Foscari International College took their learning directly into the heart of Venice for Prof. Calvelli’s course, “World Cultural Heritage: Venice and Beyond”.

Guided by Prof. Calvelli alongside special guest Prof. Donal Cooper (University of Cambridge), the group enjoyed an exclusive site visit to two monumental pillars of Venetian heritage: Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo.

By selecting this Major, students engage in hands-on discovery and guided field trips across Venice, turning academic learning into real-world connection with global heritage.

Today, we officially inaugurated the 15th Academic Year of Ca’ Foscari International College, celebrating a major milestone in our institution’s history! 🏛️
We were deeply honored to welcome our new Rector, Prof. Marco Sgarbi, alongside our Director, Prof. Giorgio Fabio Colombo. In his welcoming address, the Rector reaffirmed Ca’ Foscari’s strong commitment to the College, highlighting the vital role of our community in student life and academic growth. 🤝
💡 Highlights of the ceremony:
🔹 Keynote Lecture: Prof. Guido Smorto (University of Palermo) on “Rethinking the Rules of Our Collective Life in a Digital Society”.
🔹 Faculty Perspective: Prof. Edy Fantinato (Coordinator, Minor in Sustainability) on cross-disciplinary education.
🔹 Student & Alumni Voices: Alessandro Comparato (Master’s student) and Giuseppe Romeo (Alumnus) sharing their personal experiences.
And finally the Director officially declared the 15th Academic Year open! 🚀

Yesterday, we celebrated the Closing 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿. A special moment to say goodbye to those leaving for study periods abroad, those preparing to "spread their wings" after finishing their journey, and those who will return in September full of energy.

The journey of the Collegio Internazionale Ca’ Foscari for this academic year is reaching its most significant milestone. The Closing Ceremony is not just a rite of passage; it is a celebration of the commitment and growth of our community of collegians.

Each year, we invite a prominent cultural figure who embodies the College's core values ​​to inspire our students with their own journey.

For this special occasion, we are honored to host a leading figure in Italian culture: Beatrice Masini, acclaimed writer, journalist, and translator.

She has been head of Bompiani from 2016. She writes novels and short stories for children and adults.

Through her pen and linguistic sensitivity, the Italian translation of one of the world's most iconic literary sagas was born: Harry Potter.
