The ESA - European Space Agency and Xjenza Malta have just launched the Fourth Fixed Call for Proposals under PECS 2026 in Malta, along with a PhD research call.

Funding opportunities ranging from €75,000 to €400,000 are available across R&D, space science, downstream applications, education initiatives, and industry-driven PhD research.

The calls provide opportunities for Maltese businesses, universities, research institutions, and innovators to develop new technologies, products, services, and scientific capabilities, with potential relevance for sectors including finance, insurance, biotech, AI, cybersecurity, and digital services.

This is a great opportunity to increasingly leverage space technologies and data to innovate within the rapidly growing European space economy.

Xjenza Malta participated in the 33rd Annual Engineering Conference- Engineering the Next Decade: Advancing Smart Industry & Sustainable Infrastructure.

During the event, Dr Melchior Cini, our Director for R&I, gave a presentation about the four new initiatives under the FUSION Go To Market programme. The four new R&I initiatives are designed to facilitate the transition from innovation and product development to market validation, scaling, and commercial growth, helping bridge the gap between research excellence and real-world impact.

Xjenza Malta has been awarded the Equality Mark by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE) for a two-year period. Xjenza Malta was represented at the official award ceremony by Ms Mary-Rose Mifsud, Senior Director – Human Resources.

This certification recognises Xjenza Malta's demonstrated commitment to implementing policies and practices that promote gender equality and family-friendly measures within the workplace, as well as in the access to and provision of goods and services.

The Clean Energy Transition Partnership Joint Call 2026 for R&I is now open.

Xjenza Malta invites universities, public entities and private sector organisations to apply for funding under the Clean Energy Transition Partnership, a collaborative initiative designed to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy system across Europe.

💰Malta-based entities can receive up to €500,000. Key focus areas include zero emission energy systems and power technologies, renewable energy, heating and cooling solutions, carbon management and battery technologies.

Xjenza Malta and TÜBİTAK have officially launched the 2026 Joint Call for R&I Proposals, promoting scientific cooperation between Malta and Türkiye.

This bilateral initiative will support joint projects under two pillars:
Pillar 1: PRIMA Thematic Areas

· Agro-food Value Chain 🍅

Pillar 2: Shared National Priority Areas
· Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning 📲🧠
