Next Friday 5th June 2026 is glass collection day ♻

It is very important that glass is taken out in a container that can be reused ☺️

Once the glass is collected the container must be taken back indoors 🙌

Last Tuesday, the Eastern Regional Council held its Annual General Meeting 🏛️, looking back at a fantastic year of projects and community events across our region! 📊🚀

The evening featured informative presentations from our President Mr. Anthony Chircop, Executive Secretary Ms. Jeanette Galea, and our Regional Managers, alongside key contributions from Mr. Emil Vassallo, Director General of the Local Government Division, and Mr. Mario Fava, President of the Local Councils’ Association📋

We also hosted an engaging panel discussion titled "From Nature to Neighbourhood" 🌳🏡. We had the privilege of hearing invaluable insights from our guest speakers Perit Edgar Rossignaud, Ms. Annick Bonello Cassar, Perit Dorianne Cachia, and Mr. Alex Camilleri, who shared expert perspectives on how we can better protect and preserve our vital green lungs 🍃💚

This morning, the Eastern Regional Council teamed up with the crew from McDonald's for another clean-up event, this time in St. Julian's! 🏢🤝

Our volunteers cleared away tons of litter including glass bottles, discarded vapes, cigarette butts and packets and plastic waste🍴 Every single piece collected brings us one step closer to a cleaner, greener environment for everyone to enjoy! 🌍💚

📊 Total waste collected: 5 full CMD garbage bags.

A massive thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and got involved. Your hard work truly makes a visible difference in our community! 🙌❤️

Yesterday morning, the Eastern Regional Council in collaboration with the Faculty of ICT - University of Malta's Prof. Vanessa Camilleri, held an inspiring seminar designed specifically for Local Councils 🏘️💡, exploring how Generative AI can support smarter, safer, and more engaged communities 🌍

From live demonstrations and local council use cases to interactive citizen science labs and discussions on ethics & responsible AI use — today was all about empowering councils to become co-creators of innovation 🚀🧠

Together, we’re reimagining the future of local communities through AI 🤝✨

Bees are more than just honey-makers; they are the tiny guardians of our ecosystem and the backbone of our food security. 🌻🍎 With bee populations in decline, it’s time to take action! 🛡️🌿
