Patricia is the Netherlands Defence Attaché for Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Malta, working from the Netherlands Embassy in Rome. Bringing together military strategic policy, military operations and defence diplomacy. 🌍

She thrives in complex situations. She enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and with different perspectives to solve complex problems and to enable a better world for future generations.

Democracy is only meaningful when it guarantees equal rights, dignity and freedom for everyone. This , the Netherlands stands in solidarity with LGBTQI+ persons worldwide and reaffirms its commitment to equality, safety and justice for all.

As we mark 25 years of marriage equality in the Netherlands, we know the work is not finished. Together, we continue building societies where everyone can live freely and equally, at the heart of democracy.

Last week's event was extra special, as it marks our Ambassador's last King's Day with us in Malta. Thank you to all of our guests for making it a special one indeed!

Today, 5 May, the Netherlands celebrates Liberation Day, marking the end of the Second World War and the freedom we have enjoyed ever since.

Across the country, people come together for Freedom Meals, festivals, and the traditional concert on the Amstel River, celebrating not only our liberation, but also the value of living in a democratic society.

Freedom is never a given. Today, we celebrate it and reflect on its importance, at home and around the world.

Today, on 4 May, the Netherlands observes Remembrance Day, honoring all civilians and soldiers who have lost their lives in war and peacekeeping missions since Second World War.

At 8PM (NL time), we join the nation in observing two minutes of silence. The national ceremony will take place at Dam Square, alongside commemorations in communities across the country.

Together, we remember.

The Media Freedom Coalition is a cross-regional partnership of countries working together to advocate for media freedom, both online and offline. In Malta, the Embassy of the Netherlands forms part of the Media Freedom Coalition’s Embassy Network.

The Netherlands supports media freedom and the safety of journalists. Independent journalism underpins informed debate and helps counter disinformation, yet journalists worldwide face increasing threats. Through partnerships like the Media Freedom Coalition, the Netherlands works with governments, civil society, and legal experts to protect journalists and promote media freedom worldwide. Also, ‘PersVeilig’ was set up in the Netherlands, a platform against violence and aggression against journalists.
