EXPECTED WIND DIRECTION: SOUTHWEST MOONSOON (HABAGAT)
Residents affected by ash fall please wear face mask.
Health Risk
Respiratory Issues: Inhaling ash can cause throat/nose irritation, coughing, and trigger asthma attacks or bronchitis-like symptoms. Vulnerable groups (children, the elderly, those with pre-existing lung or heart conditions) should take extreme care.
Eye Irritation: Ash particles are sharp and can severely scratch the eye surface. Avoid using contact lenses and wear wraparound glasses or goggles outdoors.
Skin Irritation: Contact with ash may cause itchy rashes or minor skin problems. Wear long sleeves and long pants to protect your skin.
Protecting Your Home & Property
Keep Ash Out: Close all windows, doors, and vents. Place damp towels at door thresholds and tape drafty windows.
Electronics & AC Units: Turn off and cover air conditioning units and house fans to prevent damage to intake filters and internal motors.
Water Supplies: Disconnect roof downpipes from rainwater catchment tanks immediately to prevent ash from contaminating your drinking supply. If using stored water, let the ash settle.
Roof Maintenance: Ash can be heavy, especially when wet. Safely sweep ash off your roof to prevent structural collapse.
