KSA or AKS? ATTITUDE COMES FIRST.
During the Nurses Week Quiz Bowl 2026, the importance of Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude (KSA) in the nursing profession was highlighted, with particular emphasis on Attitude as the foundation of compassionate, patient-centered care.
While knowledge guides clinical decisions and skills ensure safe and competent nursing practice, attitude defines how nurses serve with compassion, empathy, patience, respect, and genuine concern for every patient and client.
Beyond clinical expertise and technical proficiency, nursing is a profession rooted in service and humanity. It means seeing the person behind the illness, listening to their concerns, upholding their dignity, and ensuring that every patient feels valued, respected, and cared for.
Competence makes a nurse capable, but compassion makes care meaningful.
As we celebrate Nurses Week 2026, may we continue to inspire our nursing professionals to uphold excellence not only in knowledge and skills but, more importantly, in the attitude and values they bring to every patient encounter. Because quality healthcare goes beyond treating illnesses, it is about serving every individual with compassion, dignity, and a genuine commitment to healing.
This celebration also highlights the continuing commitment of the Cebu City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Nestor Archival and Vice Mayor Tommy Osmeña, to recognizing the dedication and invaluable contributions of our healthcare professionals.
