๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Command (CGWCEISC) through CGWCEIS SWM RC led by Lieutenant Junior Grade Lukeman B. Dimarn PCG, facilitated the site visit and ocular inspection of the Coast Guard Radar Station facilities located at San Ramon and Rio Hondo on 19 May 2026.

Representatives from FABMIK Construction, Mrs. Gigie Cabato and Engr. Henry Mariano, conducted the inspection to reassess the present structural condition of the radar station facilities and evaluate the status of the ongoing construction projects. The activity also aimed to identify the necessary actions for the continuation and completion of the said infrastructure projects.

During the inspection, the FABMIK Construction and CGWCEIS SWM RC personnel examined the exterior and interior portions of the buildings, including the structural framework and surrounding perimeter areas. Existing installations and identified deficiencies requiring corrective actions and rehabilitation measures were likewise noted.

Further, three (3) Radar Stations were identified as priority projects for completion, namely: Rio Hondo, Olutanga, and San Ramon located within the Southwestern Mindanao Area of Responsibility (AOR). These facilities play a vital role in strengthening maritime domain awareness and improving the overall operational readiness of the Philippine Coast Guard in safeguarding the countryโ€™s territorial waters.

With this initiative, CGWCEISC continues to strengthen its capability to provide reliable coastal surveillance, support law enforcement activities, and ensure a more responsive monitoring system in protecting the nationโ€™s maritime interests and sovereignty.

On 19 May 2026, Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Command (CGWCEISC) personnel, led by Rear Admiral Roben N De Guzman PCG, Deputy Commander, CGWCEISC, attended the Solar and Storage Live Philippines 2026 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

Solar & Storage Live Philippines is the country's largest clean energy event, which showcases innovative, leading solutions for solar projects, large-scale utility projects, residential projects, small-scale community-based projects and the technologies that support them. Aside from the focus on maximizing the power output of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, technologies on the efficiency of various Energy Storage Systems (ESS) were also exhibited.

Together with Lieutenant Junior Grade Philip Neri B Guiriba PCG, Lieutenant Junior Grade Neil Karlo Z Olegario PCG, and Seaman 2nd Class Daniel A Botin PCG, Rear Admiral De Guzman visited the expo to seek alternative energy solutions for long-term power disruptions that jeopardize our critical communications, electronics, and information infrastructures. Through discussion with exhibitors, it was found important to find Tier 1 solar panel providers, which is their guaranteed rating for financial security and warranty backing to customers who will rely on them on a long-term basis. It was also discussed that Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) are already being practiced by power buyers with their surrounding residences and establishments. These agreements allow the use of roofs or sun-exposed lands for increased solar energy sourcing in exchange for discounted rates on generated electricity.

Several simultaneous presentations took place around the hall. One was titled โ€œSolar + Storage as the new baseload: Powering the Philippinesโ€™ next wave of data centres.โ€ It mentioned the feasibility of fully solar-powered data centers in other countries.

Other solutions and applications were also showcased, such as the PV-powered UV water disinfection system for providing safe, potable water in off-grid locations and the diorama of a green community utilizing renewable energy.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Western Visayas Regional Center (CGWCEIS WV RC), led by LTJG Arnel G Casiano PCG, has officially activated the repeater system at PTV Guimaras on 12 May 2026, strengthening the Coast Guard District Western Visayas' (CGDWV) communications capability. This initiative supports the partnership of CGDWV with the People's Television Network, Inc. (PTNI) for the co-location of the radio repeater, formalized on 24 April 2026. Through the signed Memorandum of Agreement ( MOA), it will enhance the radio coverage and improves the reliability of communication networks for emergency response, maritime search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, and coastal communities.

CGWCEIS WV RC conducted comprehensive radio signal testing, in coordination with vessels and Coast Guard units across the region, validating extended coverage over outermost maritime routes and archipelagic waters within CGDWVโ€™s area of responsibility.

This activation and installation were carried out in line with the directive of ADM Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard, to further improve and expand the reach and reliability of the Maritime Distress Call Monitoring and Radio Communication System through the installation of radio repeaters.

This initiative highlights the vital role of CGWCEISC through its Regional Centers, while reinforcing the strong partnership between the PCG and PTNI in promoting public service and maritime safety for the nation.
