In support of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) continuing efforts under the leadership of Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to strengthen youth employability and prepare young Filipinos for meaningful employment, DOLE XI–IGACOS Extension Office awarded Php1,401,320 worth of JobStart Philippines Program checks to its partner employers in IGACOS on October 27, 2026. The assistance supports the implementation of the program, which provides young jobseekers with technical training, workplace exposure, and opportunities to develop skills needed by the labor market. The checks were personally awarded by Marlito D. Ayala, Head of DOLE XI–IGACOS Extension Office, together with representatives of the LGU–Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
RALGBO Multipurpose Cooperative received Php319,095, Mahan Garden Resort Co., Inc. received Php138,525, China Road and Bridge Corporation received Php440,075, while Villa Amparo Leisure and Lifestyle Corp. received Php503,625. The checks cover program-related expenses, including the trainees’ technical training stipends, uniforms, transportation allowances, trainer’s fees, medical expenses, and security permits. The assistance enables partner employers to support the training and workplace development of young beneficiaries while providing them with opportunities to gain practical experience in actual work environments.
For partner employers, JobStart also provides an opportunity to augment manpower while contributing to the development of young workers. Grace Bioco-Luching, Operations Manager of Villa Amparo Leisure and Lifestyle Corp., shared, “Nakatabang gyud ang program no sa amoa kay nagdugang ug manpower sa resort and at the same time, wala mi nakagasto.” (The program has really helped us because it added manpower to the resort, and at the same time, we did not have to incur expenses.) The program likewise helps trainees build confidence and acquire practical skills, as demonstrated by Randy Hesera, who shared, “Daghan ko’g natun-an sa training (JobStart). Una, wala kaayo koy salig sa akong kaugalingon sa mga ingon ani nga trabaho, pero kadugayan, nasanay ko ug nakabalo ko sa mga trabaho, ilabi na sa Housekeeping.” (I learned a lot from the JobStart training. At first, I did not have much confidence in myself when it came to this kind of work, but eventually, I became accustomed to it and learned how to perform the tasks, particularly in housekeeping.)
Meanwhile, Rovelyn Flores, another JobStart trainee at Villa Amparo, said, “Okay ra ang training po based sa akong na-experience. Daghan ko’g na learn na skills and karon nagpadayon ko sa internship.” (The training was good based on my experience. I learned many skills, and I am now continuing with my internship.) Ayala reminded partner employers to ensure the timely submission of documentary requirements for the liquidation of Tranche 1 and to continue providing DOLE and PESO with reports on trainees’ performance and any concerns during the program. The check awarding underscores the shared commitment of DOLE, LGU-PESO, and partner employers to provide young Samaleños with relevant skills, workplace experience, and stronger pathways toward employment.
