NO SAFE HAVEN FOR CYBERCRIMINALS: IBPAP and NBI Unite to Protect the Philippine IT-BPM Industry

IBPAP met with NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag and his senior team to strengthen cooperation in addressing the growing incidence of cybercrimes and fraudulent activities committed by a small number of bad actors within the industry.

The meeting resulted in concrete commitments from the NBI to support the IT-BPM sector through stronger intelligence sharing, more effective case build-up, timely law enforcement action, and successful prosecution of offenders. Having gained a deeper understanding of the schemes and incidents affecting the industry, Director Matibag expressed confidence that the NBI is well-positioned to identify, investigate, and arrest those responsible, ensuring that criminal acts do not go unpunished.

This partnership sends a clear message: cybercrime, fraud, data theft, and other criminal acts have no place in the Philippine IT-BPM industry. Those who abuse the trust of their employers, clients, and colleagues will face the full force of the law.

Jointly organized by IBPAP and HIMAP, in partnership with CITEM, EMB, PEZA, and PTIC-Sydney, the mission featured a dynamic lineup of high-impact engagements, strategic meetings, and business forums across the region.

• In Sydney, delegates participated in a New South Wales market briefing at Stone & Chalk, one of Australia’s leading innovation hubs, followed by a business tech forum and networking reception hosted by APBC and sponsored by PEZA.

• In Melbourne, the Philippines showcased its capabilities through a vibrant Philippine country booth and compelling country presentation at the Digital Health Festival (DHF), sponsored by CITEM and PEZA. The EMB-sponsored Philippine-Australia Business Forum gathered major Australia-based companies, while delegates also engaged with key institutions including Victoria International Container Terminal Ltd (VICT), Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

• In Auckland, the mission culminated in an executive roundtable with ANZ Bank and a highly successful Philippine–New Zealand Business Forum, supported by BNZ and NZPBC and sponsored by EMB — opening new pathways for collaboration, innovation, and market expansion.

The mission reinforced the Philippines’ position as a premier global hub for digital innovation, customer experience, healthcare information management, and next-generation business services — powered by globally competitive Filipino talent.
