It’s normal. Everyone does this. We try to plan ahead to make sure no mishaps or unexpected situations pop up later on which would destroy the trip.
It’s human nature to do so yet when you’re told that you are leaving for your grave, unsure of what date or time, but you know your purpose of travel, what to expect there and also, what you will be doing, you are heedless in taking any action. Knowing this, you still don’t go online, open a Qur’an or a book of hadeeth, read articles from the ‘ulema about your next destination; your grave. Don’t you want to know where you will be living until the Day of Resurrection? Don’t you want to make sure it’s adequate for you so you won’t be uncomfortable? You remember to take your ipod to block out any potential noises of crying babies in the airplane yet you forget your deeds which will save you from the screams of hell. Instead of packing only what you can carry, you pack up on the dunya only to find out at the checkpoint that your baggage is way overweight, and not allowed and you must leave it behind. You don’t consider who will look after your duties in your absence. You know you’re leaving. With every passing day, you’re closer to your destination and it’s only a matter of time before your flight departs. But had it been Venezuela, or Italy, or Greece, you would’ve been far more keen and efficient in your preparation. The sad part is, everyone knows that not everyone gets to go to these places but every soul shall taste death yet only a few take action.
