Wishing all who celebrate a peaceful and meaningful Vesak Day.
May this occasion offer a chance to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most β kindness, understanding, and the importance of community. In a fast-moving world, moments of quiet reflection can remind us to move forward with greater compassion and appreciation for those around us.
May the day bring peace, renewal, and meaningful moments with family, friends, and loved ones. πΈ

On 28 May, the IHRP Board gathered for our annual retreat and the conversations throughout the day were timely, energising, and inspiring.
Following a morning of Board updates, we opened our doors to our Master Professionals and tripartite partners for an exclusively curated Lunch & Learn. At its heart was a panel discussion on Reimagining Work: No Regret Pivots and Big Bets on AI, featuring voices who are living this transformation daily:
β‘οΈ James Atkinson, VP, Thought Leadership, SHRM
β‘οΈ Aileen Tan, IHRP Master Professional and Chief People and Sustainability Officer, Singtel Group
β‘οΈ Rajeev Tummala, Head of Digital & Data for Asia, MENA, HSBC Securities Services
β‘οΈ Soumee De, IHRP Senior Professional
Together, they explored what it takes to translate AI ambition into meaningful organisational outcomes; from aligning AI strategy with business goals, building the right data and capability foundations, to questions of ownership and putting in place governance and guardrails that enable trusted adoption.
One message rose above the rest: technology enables, human judgement defines. Our profession's enduring value lies in judgement, ethics, trust, and the ability to lead people through uncertainty and change.
As much as we looked outward, we also turned inward to brainstorm IHRP's direction for the next 3β5 years. In the afternoon breakout segment, we explored plausible futures for Singapore's workforce: from orchestrated, well-managed transitions where HR becomes the architect of transformation, to scenarios where AI adoption outpaces planning and trust erodes. Each future asks something different of us and each demands that IHRP shows up with clarity and confidence for our HR community.
The work continues and we are energised by the direction ahead.
To every board member, panellist, and facilitator who contributed: thank you. The best conversations don't just inform strategy; they sharpen conviction and deepen our commitment to the future of work.
We also thank P&G Singapore for hosting us and helping make this retreat a success!

At IHRP, itβs often the little moments that bring us together most meaningfully. πβ¨
Last week, we celebrated Hari Raya Haji with a sweet spread of traditional kuehs shared across the office; a small gesture to honour the occasion and the spirit of togetherness, gratitude and community.
We also took the opportunity to celebrate our birthday babies for the month π
From festive treats to shared laughter and birthday wishes, these moments remind us that workplace culture is built not only through the work we do, but through the connections we nurture every day π

ππ A heartfelt thanks and gratitude to SMS Koh Poh Koon
As Senior Minister of State for Manpower, SMS Poh-Koon Koh (Dr) has been a steadfast champion for Singapore's workforce, and IHRP has had the privilege of journeying with him.
From leading the Forward Singapore Conversation under the Empower Pillar, where he engaged directly with HR professionals on how to better empower our workforce and strengthen Singapore's social compact, to co-chairing the Tripartite Workgroup on Senior Employment (TWG-SE), where he brought together employers, workers and unions to champion age-friendly workplaces and extend the productive longevity of our seniors.
SMS Koh consistently demonstrated that uplifting people is not just policy. It is purpose.
On behalf of the entire IHRP community, we extend our deepest gratitude to SMS Koh for his dedication, his vision, and his unwavering belief in the value of every worker. The seeds planted through his leadership, in HR capability, in senior employment, and in building more inclusive workplaces, will continue to grow for years to come.
Thank you, SMS Koh, for your service, your partnership, and your heart for people. π

Disruption is no longer an occasional challenge; it has become the constant backdrop against which leaders make decisions, teams navigate uncertainty, and workplaces evolve.
We were pleased to partner with our sponsor, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, to bring together HR professionals for a specially curated masterclass featuring insights from three of their leading innovation centres. The collaboration reflected a shared commitment to helping organisations navigate workforce transformation through practical, people-centred approaches.
The afternoon began with conversations on resilience through people and culture, unpacking how trust, psychological safety, and shared values are essential conditions that help teams adapt and perform under pressure. Participants then applied human-centred design methods to rethink workplace experiences from the ground up, moving from reactive problem-solving to intentional, people-first approaches. The session concluded with a deep dive into behavioural and nudge design, demonstrating how small, thoughtful interventions can reduce resistance to change and help new habits stick.
Across all three sessions, one message came through strongly: transformation cannot be driven by strategy alone. It requires deliberate effort in shaping cultures, systems, and experiences that reflect how people think, feel, and behave.
We were encouraged by the strong response from participants, which affirmed the value of this collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic. One participant shared that βthe activity was very impactful in helping to think about problem statements and develop innovative solutions,β while another appreciated the opportunity to βdeep dive into the reasons and anatomy of resilienceβ to better identify the right solutions.
We are proud to have partnered with Ngee Ann Polytechnic in delivering a learning experience that was practical, relevant, and well received by the HR community. Thank you to our partners and participants for making this session a meaningful success.

As Workforce Singapore - WSG and SkillsFuture SG (SSG) prepare to come together as the Skills and Workforce Development Agency, the role of HR in shaping the future of work has never been more important.
We are delighted to partner with the combined HR teams from WSG and SSG to deliver a Job Redesign Capability Development Workshop. It was an opportunity for HR professionals from both organisations to come together, exchange perspectives, strengthen connections and collectively prepare for the next chapter ahead.
Through practical discussions and hands-on activities, participants explored how job redesign can help organisations adapt to evolving needs, redesign roles for greater impact, strengthen workforce agility, and create clearer pathways for skills development and career growth. The workshop underscored a timely reminder that successful transformation is not just about structures and processes β it is about people.
As organisations evolve and new possibilities emerge, HR remains at the heart of enabling transformation, shaping meaningful work and building workplaces where both people and organisations can thrive.
