A beautiful location is only the beginning.

In the May 2026 issue of TFC Production Brief, we focus on what truly makes a location production-ready in Türkiye:

• filming permits
• location access
• drone coordination
• local crew & fixer support
• equipment & logistics
• on-the-ground production planning

Türkiye offers extraordinary visual diversity — but successful international production requires local intelligence, early planning and professional field ex*****on.

Formula 1 is returning to Türkiye — and Istanbul is ready for the cameras.

From 2027, Istanbul Park will once again bring global motorsport attention to Türkiye. But this return is more than a race weekend.

It is a major opportunity for international media, branded content, sports tourism, destination visibility and global production teams looking to film in Istanbul.

Turkish Film Commission supports international crews with filming permits, local production coordination, fixers, drone operations, location support, crew, equipment and logistics across Türkiye.

International attention is once again turning toward Mount Ararat and Eastern Türkiye.

We have just published a new article on the Turkish Film Commission website exploring the renewed Noah’s Ark debate, with insights from Andrew Jones and a broader production perspective on why this region continues to attract global interest.

For me, this is not only a story about archaeology or historical interpretation. It is also a story about location value, visual identity, and the growing importance of Eastern Türkiye in documentary and factual storytelling.

Mount Ararat remains one of the most powerful and under-discussed visual subjects in the region. From a production standpoint, it offers scale, atmosphere, narrative depth, and a landscape that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.

As global interest rises again, I believe this conversation matters not only for researchers and audiences, but also for international producers looking at Türkiye through a new lens.

Berlinale 2026 delivered a standout moment for cinema connected to Türkiye — and the awards list tells a bigger story than just two trophies.

🏆 Golden Bear – Best Film: Gelbe Briefe (Yellow Letters) — İlker Çatak
🥈 Silver Bear – Grand Jury Prize: Kurtuluş (Salvation) — Emin Alper

Why this matters (and what it signals for projects considering Türkiye) in our short highlight:

As Turkish Film Commission, we were on the ground in Berlin during EFM 2026 (76th Berlinale) — meeting face-to-face with industry stakeholders to discuss filming in Türkiye, permits, and production planning. 🎬🇹🇷

One thing was crystal clear: producers are no longer just looking for “beautiful locations” — they want budget advantage, speed, and predictability. Türkiye is increasingly standing out because it can deliver all three in one package.

Key takeaways:
✅ Up to 30% film incentive (eligible projects)
✅ Four-season location diversity: multiple cinematic worlds within one production plan — from Cappadocia to Antalya, the Aegean coast to Istanbul’s historic/modern contrast, Eastern Anatolia to the Black Sea
✅ Film tourism impact: on-screen locations keep Türkiye’s story moving long after wrap
✅ Next phase: production-friendly hotels become a real edge for major productions
