The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) is the military organisation responsible for the defence of the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It consists of the Regiment, the Coast Guard, the Air Guard and the Defence Force Reserves.

With heavy hearts, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard receives the body of Leading Mechanic Kris Cox, who tragically passed away in Colombia while participating in a routine dry-docking exercise.

As his remains return home, we stand in solemn tribute, honouring a colleague, a brother in arms, and a fellow sailor whose life and service will not be forgotten.

May his final journey home be met with the dignity, respect and honour he deserves.

Fair winds and following seas, Leading Mechanic Cox. Your watch is over, but your memory sails on.

During the period 26 to 28 October 2026, the Chief of Defence Staff, Commodore Don Polo, and Director Operations, Lieutenant Colonel Sheldon Dougan, attended the Americas Counter-Cartel Conference (A3C) Campaign Decision Board Conference held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The Conference saw the gathering of regional national security stakeholders who collaborated on key considerations in the combatting of transnational cartels, drug trafficking, and narcotic networks in the Western Hemisphere.

In support of regional security operations for CHOGM 2026, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard's CG 27 (TTS Moruga) and its crew are currently deployed to Antigua and Barbuda, providing support for the Twenty-Eighth Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, which takes place from 01 to 04 November 2026 in St. John's.

The event brings together Heads of Government, senior officials and delegations from across the Commonwealth to strengthen cooperation, promote sustainable investment and advance shared prosperity.

OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE BARBADOS DEFENCE FORCE TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO (DFMA VISIT)
The Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), Brigadier General the Honourable Carlos A. R. Lovell, is leading a five-member delegation on an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago from 21 to 24 October 2026. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral defence relations between the BDF and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF).

On Friday, 23 October 2026, Brigadier Lovell and his delegation visited the Defence Force Military Academy (DFMA), where they were received by Colonel Keston Charles, Director of Force Development, Strategy and Management and Director of the DFMA. The delegation subsequently participated in a guided tour of the Academy.

OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE BARBADOS DEFENCE FORCE TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO (STAUBLES BAY VISIT)

The Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), Brigadier General the Honourable Carlos A. R. Lovell, is leading a five-member delegation on an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago from 21 to 24 October 2026. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral defence relations between the BDF and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF).

After visiting the CDS at DFHQ on Thursday 22 October 2026, Brigadier Lovell visited Staubles Bay, Headquarters of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard, where Brigadier Lovell and his delegation were received by the Executive Officer Commander Ray Frederick, and taken for a guided tour of TTS Brighton (CG24) and TTS Moruga (CG27).

On Thursday, 22 October 2026, Brigadier Lovell paid a courtesy call to his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart, the Chief of Defence Staff of the TTDF, Commodore Don Polo, at Defence Force Headquarters, Chaguaramas.
