During the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Reserves’ (TTDFR) recent training weekend, troops put their map reading and navigation skills to the test! Building on classroom instruction, Reservists transitioned into practical field exercises, applying their knowledge of map interpretation, orientation and terrain navigation in an outdoor environment. 🌳🧭

The training reinforced essential military skills while developing confidence, teamwork and operational readiness. Because knowing the terrain is just as important as knowing the mission! 🪖💪🏽🇹🇹

🪖💪🏽🔥 STRENGTH, ENDURANCE, TEAMWORK AND DETERMINATION! 🇹🇹🏆

As part of its 63rd Anniversary Celebrations, the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Reserves (TTDFR) hosted its highly competitive IRON MAN COMPETITION, bringing together Headquaters Company, Logistics and Administration Company, Engineering Company and Operations Company in an exciting display of physical endurance, resilience and teamwork! 💪🏽🔥🪖

From demanding obstacle courses to gruelling physical challenges, competitors were pushed to their limits as they demonstrated the discipline, courage, camaraderie and fighting spirit that define the men and women of the Reserves. 🏃🏽‍♂️🏋🏽‍♀️🤝🏽

🏆 THE ROAD TO CHAMPION COMPANY!

The Iron Man Competition forms part of a series of inter-company challenges, with each event contributing valuable points towards the coveted title of Overall Champion Company for the TTDFR’s 63rd Anniversary Celebrations.

More than a test of individual strength, the competition reinforced a fundamental military principle: no challenge is too great when we work together as one team. 💪🏽🇹🇹

In everything we give thanks.

29th September occupies a special spot in the heart of all Reservists. It is the date on which the Formation was established. This year marked 63 years of supporting our twin island Republic in the area of national security.

Of course. We must acknowledge the Almighty and thank Him for our blessings and challenges we have faced along the way to 63.

Our Anniversary Church Parade (Service) was held at the St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church on 29th September. The Chief of Defence Staff, Commodore Don Polo and Formation Commanding Officers from the Air Guard and Regiment attended to lend their support. Senior Enlisted Advisors from the other Formations, former DFR COs and veterans also attended to honour this milestone.

The DFR's Commanding Officer, Major David Benjamin gave a heartwarming and thought provoking address to motivate us all to continue to persevere.

Our troops showed up and sang lustily as we honoured our past and prayed for the future.

Thank you to all present and past members who attended the service.

TTDFR BRINGS COMMUNITY TOGETHER FOR ITS INAUGURAL 5K RUN AND 1K WALK

The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Reserves hosted its inaugural 5k Run & 1k Walk on Saturday, 26th September 2026, at its Headquarters Camp, Macqueripe Road, Chaguaramas. The event began at 6 am and brought together Reservists, members of the Defence Force, fitness enthusiasts, children, families, friends, supporters and members of the wider community.

In keeping with our focus on youth development, we invited children from the Lady Hochoy School and the Special Olympics Organization to participate and sponsored their involvement.

TTDFR was pleased to partner with the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs (MSYA) on this initiative. The Honourable Phillip Watts, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs, attended the event and witnessed the community engagement it inspired.

We thank the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, our gold sponsor, the Lady Hochoy School and Special Olympics for allowing the children to come out at 6 am, our other sponsors: Blue Waters Limited, Kiss Baking Company, Bermudez, RHS Marketing, Coca Cola, Island Flavours Limited, Massy Distribution, National Flour Mills, HYATT Regency, Bryden Pi, Holiday Foods, and TT Post, volunteers, participants, and everyone who supported the event. Their contributions helped us to bring this initiative to life.

International strategic partnership reaps many rewards. Personnel from the DFR participated in a five- day international cooperative seminar focused on Practices in Combating Transnational Organized Crime. The seminar facilitated by members of the Colombian security agencies was held in Trinidad and Tobago. Five members of the DFR attended and gained invaluable knowledge that will be used to fortify the TTDF's operations.
Congratulations to our team!!
