Summit County Job and Family Services is hosting two community forums for residents to learn about recent and upcoming changes to Medicaid eligibility and requirements due to the One Big Beautiful Bill passed last year.

These sessions will provide the community with important updates on:
• Non-citizen Medicaid eligibility changes effective October 1, 2026.
• New work requirements and exemptions beginning January 1, 2027.
• Changes to renewal timelines, verification, and documentation requirements.
• Best practices for helping individuals maintain Medicaid coverage.

Join us at the following locations:

Twinsburg Public Library
Tuesday, December 1
5:00pm-7:00pm
Meeting Rooms 1-3
(10050 Ravenna Rd, Twinsburg)

Summit County Public Health
Wednesday, December 2
5:00pm-7:00pm
Donna Skoda Auditorium
(1867 W Market St, Akron)

Participants will gain a better understanding of these changes, their implementation, and available resources to support the individuals and families in the Summit County community impacted by these changes.

Did you know you don't have to rake your leaves into the street for leak pickup this year? That's right! This year, we are asking all residents to place their leaves on the devil strip instead of raking them in the street. You don't have to worry about getting them raked when you see signs show up in your neighborhood. Rake your leaves to the devil strip at any time and we'll handle the rest!

Help us spread the word and tell your neighbors about this update. DO rake your leaves to the devil strip at any time and DON’T rake your leaves into the street.

The leaf removal dashboard is available at akronohio.gov/leaves to view the progress of pickup as the season continues.

💛 Our food pantry is launching this Friday! 💛

Join us at The JADFA House, 916 Kenmore Boulevard, on Friday, October 30, from 10–11:30 a.m., or while supplies last.

There are no requirements to attend, and you do not need to bring proof of income, residency or other documentation. Please enter through the front door, where our team will get you registered and checked in. You’ll then receive a prepackaged box of food to take home.

A few things to know before you come:

🥫 We’ll have nonperishable food items and limited produce.
🚫 We will not have meat, dairy or refrigerated products.
🐾 We’ll also have some pet food available to choose from, while supplies last.

This is new for us, so please extend a little grace and patience to our team as we learn! Our November pantry dates are still to be determined. We expect to learn a lot from this launch and will use that experience to assess how we can serve our community’s needs most effectively.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers for helping make this possible and to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for their partnership!
