La Puente is our community's response to address the effects of poverty by providing a safety net of services, where individuals and families get what they need to stabilize, heal, strengthen, and ultimately thrive. La Puente Home endeavors to meet immediate needs and to empower people to live independently and with dignity.

Annually over 12,000 individuals and family members receive at least one of our services, including emergency shelter, nutritious food from one of our 15 pantries, housing with support services, social-emotional learning based youth services, educational gardens, crisis prevention resources, soup kitchen meals, home outreach visits, and more. With the objective of meeting the needs of the homeless and community members in crisis, La Puente’s services both restore and strengthen people’s lives, so that they can live independently, with dignity.

Crisis Prevention helps those on the verge of experiencing homelessness stay in their homes while also providing a path out of homelessness for our shelter guests. They accomplish this by providing financial aid for rent, utility, energy, and medical assistance.

With the flooding that has recently occurred in the San Luis Valley, Crisis Prevention is supporting even more families and individuals in stabilizing.

🤔WHY DONATE FROM 11/1-12/9?
Every donation made during the Colorado Gives Day period (Nov. 1–Dec. 8) is boosted by a $1M+ Incentive Fund. Each nonprofit receives a share of the fund proportional to the amount it raises, helping us maximize every gift.

🤷‍♀️HOW IT WORKS?
La Puente will receive a percentage of the fund equal to the percentage we raise for Colorado Gives Day. So, if we raise an amount equal to 10% of the amount raised by all Colorado Non-profits, we get 10% of the Incentive Fund!

*La Puente's Colorado Gives account is open all year round, but this specific time frame allows us to maximize YOUR donation!

If you're affected by the flooding, please find a pantry in your area using the link below.https://www.lapuentehome.org/...

Last year, the Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley distributed Thanksgiving Boxes to 800 families in the Valley. We would like to match that number this year and need YOUR help 🫵

These boxes include all the fixins you need to make a Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey!!! 🦃

At $31.86, you can share the joy of the holidays by sponsoring a Thanksgiving Box for an SLV family (or two) and help allow them to celebrate Thanksgiving this year🤗

The K-5 students at Alamosa Elementary School donated an incredible 822 pounds of food during their annual Halloween Parade!!!!! We loved seeing all the students' costumes! More importantly, it is such a special thing to witness their generosity...the young people in our community are so eager and willing to give back and help their neighbors! 👻🕷️🎃

The Food Bank Network of the San Luis Valley will distribute these shelf-stable items across our network of 15 pantries to support families struggling with food insecurity. Over 11,500 community members (that's about 22% of our local population!) relies on our pantries to keep food on the table! 🥕🍎🥔
