🔦Training doesn’t stop when the sun goes down! 🔦
Yesterday evening, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Underwater Dive Rescue Team conducted training at Lake Victoria, putting their skills to the test in low-light and low-visibility conditions.

Trainings like these help our team stay prepared, sharpen their skills, and be ready to respond when called upon — even when conditions are less than ideal.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has confirmed the presence of a toxic blue-green algae bloom in the area of Krueger's Creek on Lake Le Homme Dieu. The confirmation began through a resident living on Lake Le Homme Dieu, who conducted a bottle test of the affected area. This algae bloom may be harmful to the health of pets and humans.
The test was confirmed on October 1, and the recommendation from the MPCA is as follows:
Avoid the water until the toxic algae bloom is gone.
Also please keep all animals away from any shoreline areas that may have been affected by the current toxic algae bloom. If your dog gets into the water, or walks on any affected areas, please hose their body down immediately, along with their paws, and contact an Emergency Veterinarian immediately if you see any behavioral changes.
Blue-green algae can make humans very sick but can be especially deadly for any pets who come into contact with it. The general rule when toxic blue-green algae is present in a lake or pond: WHEN IN DOUBT, STAY OUT!!!
