Here is a copy of the letter that was mailed to residents regarding the new utility billing portal. Residents will receive an email this evening to set up their customer portal. You do not have to utilize the portal, payments can still be made at Village Hall and Farmers State Bank in Alpha. We hope you find this to be a positive change. Thank you!

Reminder: Bills are due on the 20th of each month.

Elections are coming up April 6th, 2027 and the Village of Alpha has 3 seats open for trustees.

If you are interested in running for the board please reach out to our Village Clerk, Heather DeShane, to get a packet. The deadline to turn it in is October 26th.

Alpha Trunk or Treat hours will be from 5pm-8pm and Trick or Treat from 6pm-8pm. Saturday October 31st.

💧Online Payment Portal💧
As part of our transition to a new utility billing system, our current online payment portal will be taken offline on October 6th.

Beginning October 6th, customers will no longer be able to access the current portal to view account information or make online payments. More information to follow this week in the form of a letter and social media post.

Will my bill look different? No

Can I opt to have my bill emailed? Yes

What is the fee to pay online?
Credit/Debit Card 1%min- 2.3% max of total paid
eCheck (bank account and routing number) .50

Can I set up Autopay? Yes, through the online portal you can enroll in autopay and set the date you want your payments taken out each month.

Will my account number change? No and Yes. Landlord/Tenant accounts may have an additional number at the end of the account number depending on the properties history.

Example: old account 1234
new account 1234-01

Will I have to register my account online if I want to make payments and see my water usage history? Yes

♻️Free Household Hazardous Waste
Collection Event.

Rock Island County Waste Management Agency and the Illinois EPA are hosting a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Rock Island County Fairgrounds.

This is a safe way to dispose of household materials that cannot go in normal trash, such as oil-based paints, cleaning products, pesticides, paint thinners, antifreeze, used motor oil, fluorescent light bulbs and more.

💧Water Bill Announcement💧

Next Month we will be transitioning to our new billing software. On the back of your bill for this month we are asking you to write your phone number and email on the back of your stub. This will help us update our records for a smooth transition. If you pay online, there is no need to update. Once we have more information to share, we will.

🎉 10 YEARS OF SERVICE! 🎉

Tonight, the Village Board had the pleasure of recognizing our Public Works Superintendent, Jeff Kessinger, for 10 years of dedicated service to our community! 👏

And of course, we couldn’t let the occasion go by without a little surprise… with his family there to help celebrate! ❤️ Because let’s be honest—surprises are FUN! 😉

Jeff is one of those people who truly does a little bit of everything. He wears many, many hats and is always willing to go the extra mile (and probably a few extra miles after that! 😄).

His dedication, hard work, attention to detail, and expertise do not go unnoticed. Most importantly, you can see how much Jeff genuinely cares about our community and the place we all call home through the pride he puts into his work every single day.
