November is National Native American Heritage Month! Did you know that you can view an exhibit of Caddo artifacts at OBU's Library? Coordinated by our friends across the ravine at the Arkansas Archeological Survey research station at Henderson State University, the exhibit features a variety of vessels and tools from the Caddo tribe who inhabited this region from AD 1000 to AD 1800. You can view the exhibit on the library's main floor anytime we are open!

We love it when we get to collaborate with other departments on campus! Come check out this temporary display for Dia de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) from our colleagues in the Department of Language and Literature and Sigma Delta Pi. You can add the name of a deceased loved one you'd like to remember to the tree, and the names will be read on Tuesday November 3rd at 3:30 during a program here in the library.

It's not only American Archives Month, but it's also the middle of college football season! The OBU Archives houses an amazing collection of Arkansas college football programs amassed by Mike Dugan (1954-2021), one of Arkansas's foremost sports historians. A former sports information director at Henderson State University, MIke was also instrumental in establishing the Historic Baseball Trail in Hot Springs.

His collection contains football programs from 1933-2016 for Arkansas schools including OBU, Henderson, Arkansas Tech, ASU, College of the Ozarks, Harding, Hendrix, Little Rock Junior College, SAU, UAM, UCA and UAPB! These programs are a treasure trove of information about the players and local businesses in these college towns,

Also included in Dugan's collection are media guides, AIC and NAIA handbooks, and AIC, NAIA, and AAA championship programs and directories. The link to the Dugan collection finding aid is in the first comment.
