2ND GRADE PUMPKINS AND MUSHROOMS

Second graders learned about the Japanese Artist "Yayoi Kusama" who was known for her use of dots and immersive installations that explore the natural world and humanity's place in the universe.

Students either created a Kusama inspired mushroom or pumpkin. They used their color wheel knowledge to pick contrasting color papers and used pencil and sharpie to draw their shapes and designs. Artists discussed Kusama's use of both geometric and organic shapes in her work. Thank you, Ms. Warta and Ms. Moore for helping our Second Graders complete these masterpieces.

LOST AND FOUND

The lost and found has started to accumulate items. If your child has misplaced something, have them check the lost and found in the main lobby.

Please remember to label any jackets, sweatshirts, lunchboxes, and water bottles that your child brings to school. Jamestown staff always look for a student’s name on items brought to the lost and found in order to return it to the child. It is much easier to return them when there is a name.

FIRST GRADE CREATED WARM & COOL COLORS PUMPKINS

After observing key works by the Artist, Romero Britto, the first grade students began planning out their own interpretation of what a Romero Britto pumpkin could look like. Utilizing markers and crayons, the students explored themes such as line and color (specifically the warm and cool colors). Thank you, Ms. Moore, for helping them create this project.

A huge thank-you to our wonderful hosts—the Brodbecks, Cohen-Aillerys, DiRuzzo-Barayas, Hobbs, Krills, Lindsays, Mathesons, and Woods—for opening their homes, organizing these gatherings, and creating such great opportunities for Jamestown parents to connect and build community. Thank you to everyone who came out to join the fun! We’re so grateful for a parent community that makes Jamestown such a special place to be!
