AES is making news! 📣

This month’s Wait Until 8th newsletter featured Aspen Elementary School and the Roaring Fork Digital Wellness Coalition for their commitment to helping students stay connected without the pressure of smartphones.

Every AES student received a screen-free Tin Can landline phone, and nearly half of AES families have signed the Wait Until 8th pledge—contributing to more than 300 pledges across Aspen School District!

Five Aspen Elementary School educators presented at the NCTM Conference in Denver! ➕📚

Their session explored how collaboration across grade levels strengthens math instruction, curriculum alignment, assessment practices, teacher leadership, and shared accountability—helping every student feel supported and grow as a mathematician.

The Cats of ASD have entered the chat! 🐱🐾

In honor of National Cat Day, celebrated on October 29, we’re highlighting the Cats of ASD! We’re celebrating some of the furry supervisors, work-from-home assistants, blanket inspectors, and beloved companions who rule the homes—and occasionally the workspaces—of our ASD staff.

A taste of the Philippines came to ASD! 🇵🇭✨

Through our Global Flavors Passport series, students explored Filipino culture while enjoying Chicken Inasal—a smoky, savory dish inspired by Nutrition Services team member Apple Azarcon’s family traditions and childhood memories.

Every meal has a story, and we’re proud to celebrate the cultures and experiences that make our ASD community so special. ❤️🍽️

Stories connect us across languages, cultures, and generations! 📚🇫🇷

We were delighted to welcome Linden Archambault’s grandmother, Rosemary, to the classroom on Friday. She read Jean de La Fontaine’s classic fable, *The Grasshopper and the Ant*, in French to help students launch their new unit on myths and traditional stories.

Merci beaucoup, Rosemary, for sharing your language, time, and love of storytelling with our students! ❤️

📚 The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Aspen Middle School!

Join us October 19–23 in the AMS Library and help your student discover their next favorite book. Families are welcome to shop during the final hour after school—please check in at the front office with a valid driver’s license.
