This is my May Baptist News Global Opinion Piece
Developing a new conversation on race
Jesus had a lot to say about putting new wine in old wineskins, and those words need not to be lost on us as we imagine our way forward in our racial healing work. It not good enough to put old wine in new wineskins and pretend it is new. In our case, the new...

Bridging The Rivers of Difference, A Proclamation of Unity In Resistance
new & notable
“Meeks calls on four major underrepresented groups—Indigenous Peoples, African-Americans, Asian Americans, and Latin Americans—to band together and invites whites who are willing to be more than allies and become pilgrims to join in the effort to overturn the systemic racism that is embedded within our culture.”
—Gregory E. Sterling, The Reverend Henry L. Slack Dean, The Lillian Claus Professor of New Testament, Yale Divinity School.
Dr. Catherine Meeks draws on a lifetime of fighting fo racial justice and healing to confront today's most pressing issues.
With deep insight and historical perspective, Dr. Meeks explores the walk back of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, attacks on immigrant communities, and more within the broader continuum of systemic racism and white nationalism. She examines critical areas such as zoning, voting rights, and immigration, while offering practical, collaborative strategies to move forward with purpose and hope.
Meeks powerfully argues that today, resistance is necessary to dispel hierarchies of human value, and we have work to do to ensure that no one group fights alone.
