🧡🖤 Superintendent Craft has been out and about again, making her way through our schools!

At Augusta Schools USD 402 - Garfield Elementary, she learned about the school garden, where herbs have been planted and are already sprouting! 🌱 She also enjoyed a little recess fun and stopped in for some math and English lessons.

Next up was Augusta Schools USD 402 - Lincoln Elementary , where she visited 4th graders learning about social studies. She also made her way to Augusta Schools USD 402 - Augusta High School to take in some history and art!

It was a full day of school visits, but one that certainly filled her cup! 🧡🖤 Getting into classrooms, connecting with teachers, and seeing our students learning and growing is what it's all about!

🧡🖤 Marching Orioles Finish Competitive Season with Straight 1 Ratings! 🖤🧡

What a way to wrap up an incredible competitive marching season! 🎶

The Augusta Schools USD 402 - Augusta High School Marching Orioles earned straight 1 (Superior) ratings at the Southern Plains Marching Festival in Andover on Wednesday, October 21!

Their 2026 show, “We're All Mad Here,” inspired by Alice in Wonderland, has been a showcase of talent, dedication, and teamwork throughout the season.

Dr. Alex Wimmer, Director of Bands at Kansas State University and one of the festival judges, praised the Orioles, saying, “Your sound is focused, your marching is focused, and just your overall demeanor communicates a higher elevation of expectation, which is fantastic.”

Students also reflected on what they felt was one of their strongest performances of the season, along with the friendships, memories, and opportunities to watch other talented bands.

While their competitive season has come to an end, the Marching Orioles aren't finished yet! They'll continue bringing music and Oriole pride to home football playoff games as our team heads into postseason play! 🏈🎶

Congratulations to all 112 members of the Marching Orioles and their directors on an outstanding season! Your hard work, dedication, and school spirit make us proud!

🧡🖤 FROM THE NEST 🖤🧡
Alumni Spotlight: Joshua McNabb, Class of 2016

From the drumline at Augusta High School to traveling the country supporting professional racing events, Joshua McNabb has taken his Oriole roots on quite the journey!

After graduating from AHS in 2016, Joshua spent a couple of years exploring career opportunities in Kansas before deciding to make a big move to Greenville, South Carolina, where his grandparents lived. Today, he works as a Tire Service Technician for Michelin, traveling across the country to support IMSA racing events. He is also a proud dad to a 4-year-old!

Looking back at his time at AHS, Joshua remembers the fun of pep rallies, playing in the drumline and the relationships he built with teachers. In fact, he can still remember some of those drumline beats today! 🥁

One person who made a lasting impact was Mr. Craig, or Coach Craig. Although Joshua wasn't directly coached by him, he remembers the encouragement and positivity Coach Craig offered on days when he needed it most.

Joshua also credits his time in strength and conditioning with teaching him the importance of health and fitness, something he continues to value today.

When asked what he is most proud of since graduation, Joshua shared that moving away from home and building a life he never imagined possible has been one of his greatest accomplishments.

His advice for today's Orioles is something we can all learn from:
"Be kind, and understand everyone at the end of everyday is a human-being. Good days are ahead, and so are bad days. Don't let bad days define the rest of your life."

Joshua's story is a great reminder that success looks different for everyone. Whether your path leads to college, a career, or an adventure across the country, there are so many opportunities waiting beyond the halls of AHS!

Thank you for sharing your journey with us, Joshua! We're proud to see another Oriole making his mark beyond the nest!

Once an Oriole, Always an Oriole! 🧡🖤
