Bath Electric, Gas and Water Systems (BEGWS) is a municipal utility owned by the Village of Bath. BEGWS provides electric, gas, water and sewer services to the Village of Bath residents and a small portion of residents in the Town of Bath. The operation of BEGWS is overseen by the Village of Bath Municipal Utility Commission which consists of five members appointed by the Village of Bath Board of Trustees. The electric and gas utilities provided by BEGWS are regulated by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC). The PSC is the public utilities commission of state government that regulates and oversees the electric, gas, water, and telecommunication industries in New York as part of the Department of Public Service. ***INTERMITTENT INTERRUPTIONS IN WATER SERVICE, HIGH POTENTIAL FOR DISCOLORED WATER FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2026***

In anticipation of upcoming water main tie-in work at Liberty Street and Elm Street, our employees will be operating valves and flowing hydrants early morning Friday, October 23, 2026.

There is a high potential for discolored water as a result of these activities. Please run cold water from an outside spigot, or fixture in the basement closest to the incoming water service line, to ensure your water is clear. Please also avoid running hot water and washing whites until your water is clear.

There is an interruption in water service for customers inside the blue perimeter.

Villager Construction, contractor for water main replacement, will be mobilizing to the area of Liberty Street and Haverling Street Monday, October 5, 2026, to begin replacing water main on Liberty Street.

Vehicular and pedestrian traffic may be impacted. Please follow all signs designating detour routes.

We ask all travelers to exercise, extreme caution when traveling through this construction zone.

We greatly appreciate the continued patience and understanding of our residents, businesses, patrons, community partners, and visitors.

To accommodate restoration (i.e., paving) at the intersection of East Morris Street and May Street, May Street will be closed Tuesday, September 15, 2026, between East Morris Street and East William Street. The road closure will generally be in effect from 7:00am and 5:00pm.

Villager Construction, contractor for water main replacement, will be mobilizing to the intersection of Liberty Street and West-East Steuben Street Tuesday, September 15, 2026, to replace water main on East Steuben Street.

Flagging of this intersection for vehicular traffic is anticipated, and scheduled to begin THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2026.

Pedestrian traffic will also be impacted. Please follow all signs designating detour routes.
