Gitigaan News!

We spent the first two months of school harvesting and reseeding manoomin, gardening and cooking with youth, pressing c***r, visiting local orchards, welcoming guest instructors, and enjoying the gifts of the season. Read on to learn more about what Farm to School happenings are going on in the garden, classrooms, and cafeteria this Dagwaagin (Autumn)!

Celebrating National Farm to School Month in Bayfield!

October is National Farm to School Month! From wild rice reseeding to harvest pizza making, visiting Big Lake Organics to see where our food waste goes to become compost, and all things apples, our students have been learning through food, land, and hands-on experiences!

🍎 Apple crunch, apple picking, c***r pressing, and making apple chips!

We love giving students opportunities to connect with where their food comes from, discover what happens to food waste, try new things, and celebrate the foods and traditions that bring our community together. 💚

This weekend, Bayfield School District students and brothers, Riley and Elliot will be heading to Waterloo, Wisconsin, for the Wisconsin NICA Red Barn State Championship at Trek Trails. Riders from more than 100 teams from across the state will race mountain bikes on Sunday to crown state champions in every category. Please join us in wishing good luck to Riley and Elliot! Ride hard, ride safe, and make us proud!

Riley is having a really great JV2 Season, placing in the top 10 for each race and getting the 3rd position at the Cable Conquest Race this year.
