Thankfully no injuries were reported.

Just after 6 p.m. on Friday, October 23, the Maple Heights Fire Department was alerted to a house fire in the 20600 block of Applegate Road. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the front of the home.

Three adults and three children escaped unharmed after being alerted by a smoke alarm. Firefighters confirmed that all occupants were outside and brought the fire under control.

The fire caused extensive damage to the main level of the home and also damaged a neighboring house.

Firefighters from Maple Heights, Bedford, Garfield Heights, North Randall, Bedford Heights, and Valley View responded.

The Maple Heights investigator is working on a determination of the cause.

Maple Heights Fire Department reminds everyone that working smoke alarms provide critical early warning. Test alarms regularly and make sure everyone in the household knows how to escape in an emergency.

This week the BFD and Maple Hts cut a few passenger cars apart for some extrication training. We are very fortunate to have a buisness like Dealer Connection in town to provide us the scrapped cars and the location to practice this technical skill. Thank you Ted!!
