🚒 A BIG THANK YOU FROM THE BELMONT FIRE DEPARTMENT! 🚒

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to LaValley Building Supply and Foley Oil for their generous donations of supplies to help us build our new overhang for our grill storage area at the Belmont Fire Department! This project has allowed us to free up valuable space in our apparatus bay.

Your support and generosity helped make this project possible, and we truly appreciate your commitment to our department and our community. Having local businesses willing to step up and support our firefighters means so much to us!

🔥 P.S. Just to be clear, there is NO grilling under this overhang! 🤣

From all of us at BFD, thank you for being such great community partners!

On September 23, 2026, Concord Hospitals System Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Manager, Craig Clough presented Belmont personnel with their stork pins for the following emergency response:

On August 22nd, Belmont Fire Department personnel responded to a call that resulted in a very special delivery while en route to Concord Hospital.

A baby boy was safely delivered aboard Belmont Ambulance 2, thanks to the teamwork and professionalism of four Belmont Fire Department personnel.

We would like to recognize Lieutenant Tom Ryan who delivered the baby with the assistance of Probationary Firefighter Josh Chandler and Call Lieutenant Andrew Frechette while Firefighter Jim Hayes drove them safely to Concord. This call was particularly memorable for Lt. Tom Ryan and Probationary FF Josh Chandler, as it was the first ambulance delivery for both members.

Congratulations to the entire crew on a job well done, and most importantly, welcome to the newest member of the Belmont community!

🚒 HANDS-ON AUTO EXTRICATION TRAINING! 🚒

On Tuesday, August 25th, members of the Belmont Fire Department joined forces with members of the Gilmanton Fire Department for a day of hands-on auto extrication training.

Thanks to four vehicles donated for training, each shift had the opportunity to work through different realistic, real-world extrication scenarios. Each evolution presented its own challenges and gave our firefighters the chance to practice critical skills including:

🔧 Vehicle stabilization & extrication techniques
🩺 Patient care
📣 Communication & teamwork
🎯 Incident command
🧠 Decision-making under pressure

Lt. R***r did an outstanding job organizing the training and adding unexpected challenges to keep our crews thinking on their feet. In one evolution, the officer was immediately injured, requiring the senior firefighter to step up and assume incident command.

Scenarios like these are incredibly valuable. Extrication isn't just about knowing the tools and techniques—it's about being able to communicate, adapt, make decisions, and work as a team when things don't go according to plan.

Overall, it was a very productive day of training and a great opportunity for our members to work alongside our neighboring department while sharpening the skills we rely on when someone's worst day becomes our call.

👏 A HUGE thank-you to our training partners and supporters!

🚗 Al's Towing – for providing two vehicles
🚗 Belmont Salvage – for providing two vehicles
🚑 TNFD & Laconia – for providing additional crash dummies for the training

And, of course, thank you to every firefighter who participated and helped make the day a success!

Training like this makes us better prepared to serve our community when it matters most. Train hard. Work together. Be ready. 💪🚒

Pictured here is Chief Pickowicz receiving a generous donation of brand-new tools from Al R***r, owner of Al’s Towing in Laconia.

Al’s Towing recently donated an assortment of new tools to the Belmont Fire Department that will be placed on our new fire engine scheduled to arrive this fall. The new engine was made possible in large part through a $500,000 grant from the Granite State Clean Fleets Program. While this grant has provided an incredible opportunity for our department and community, outfitting a new piece of apparatus with all of the necessary equipment comes with significant additional costs.

As a small department, we continue to look for creative ways to secure the equipment we need while keeping the cost to our taxpayers as low as possible. Generous donations and community partnerships like this help us stretch every dollar and make the most of the funding we receive.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Al and Al’s Towing for supporting the Belmont Fire Department and our community. These new tools will be put to good use and will serve our firefighters and residents for many years to come.

We are extremely fortunate to have local businesses that continue to step up and support their community. Thank you, Al’s Towing!
