Oct. 27, 2026

WACO – Beginning Monday night, November 2, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and its contractor will implement overnight closures on US 190 to set beams for the new Valley Bridge.

Beginning at 7 p.m. each night, the westbound ramp from I-14/US 190 Business to US 190 will be closed. Westbound traffic will be detoured through Copperas Cove via US 190 Business and directed back to US 190 at the FM 2657 intersection.

Eastbound US 190 traffic will be diverted off the freeway at the FM 3046 exit. These closures will occur nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., beginning Monday night and continuing through Thursday morning.

The closures are necessary as part of TxDOT's project to widen US 190 from Clarke Road to the Lampasas County line into a four-lane divided highway.

Contact Jake Smith, TxDOT Waco District Public Information Officer at [email protected] or 254-366-7673.

Large black text at the top reads “Nighttime Closure” and “US 190 — Coryell County.” Below, smaller text reads “Driving Rule 101,” followed by large brown lettering stating “KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!” At the bottom are two traffic-related icons: a striped road barricade and a yellow detour sign with a right-pointing arrow. The overall design emphasizes advance trip planning and awareness of detours during nighttime roadway work.

Pedestrian safety & driver awareness are always on our minds.

During this last week of Pedestrian Safety Month, save and share this quick guide to stay SAFE.🚶‍➡️🚘

10/26/2026

October and November see the highest number of pedestrian crashes as daylight hours get shorter.

More than a statistic is a friend, family member, colleague, neighbor, or loved one whose life was changed in an instant. Last October and November, 138 pedestrians lost their lives in traffic crashes, accounting for nearly 20% of all pedestrian fatalities in 2025.

As evenings get darker earlier, let's all do our part to keep each other safe. Stay alert, slow down, and watch for pedestrians everywhere, at all times. Every person on our roads matters..

🚴‍♀️🥾🐴🌳You're invited to join the Active Transportation Advisory Committee (ATAC) meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as we begin discussions on planning a Regional Trail Feasibility Study.
🔑This effort is a key recommendation identified in both the Regional Active Transportation Plan and the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan, recognizing the importance of expanding safe, connected opportunities for walking, bicycling, rolling, and outdoor recreation throughout the KTMPO region.
This study represents an exciting opportunity to explore how trails can better connect our communities, parks, schools, employment centers, destinations, and outdoor recreation assets while supporting regional mobility, quality of life, and economic vitality.
