🌟 Meet Our 3rd Cohort of Rural Champions! 🌟
Our 3rd Cohort of Rural Champions is in full swing, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce you to each of these incredible community leaders.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be highlighting our Rural Champions, sharing their stories, and celebrating the meaningful work they’re doing to make a difference in their communities. From inspiring ideas to impactful initiatives, these champions are helping create positive change in rural Kansas. 💚
Kac'Rae McAlonan - Russell Main Street Russell Rural Champion
Russell's downtown businesses face a significant capacity gap, with no dedicated leader to coordinate revenue growth, business activation, marketing, or upper-floor housing development. Although local businesses and community partners are committed to revitalization, volunteer-led efforts have limited long-term impact, resulting in inconsistent foot traffic, missed economic opportunities, and slower reinvestment. A Rural Champion would provide focused leadership to implement coordinated, data-driven strategies that increase downtown activity, strengthen small businesses, reduce vacancy risk, and support sustained economic growth and community vitality.
Kac’Rae McAlonon was selected because her professional experience in hospitality, operations, marketing, and event coordination directly supports the goals of the downtown revitalization project. She has demonstrated success in building systems, increasing customer engagement, and strengthening business performance. Her leadership will help coordinate business participation, increase downtown activity, and advance long-term economic development initiatives.
👏 Stay tuned, follow along, and help us shine a spotlight on our amazing Rural Champions!
