Over the past several weeks, we’ve been highlighting each of Idaho’s 12 Principles of Elections, and today we’re sharing the 12th and final principle. 🗳️
All election audits in Idaho are conducted by hand-counting paper ballots, and recounts include a sample hand count compared against voting equipment totals.
Paper ballots create a secure, auditable record and provide an important layer of verification in Idaho elections. The audit process for the recent primary election begins this Friday with a random draw of counties and precincts.

The election might be over, but we’re not finished highlighting Idaho’s 12 Principles of Elections! 🗳️
Random audits of precincts and counties are conducted after each primary and general election, and help verify accuracy and strengthen confidence in Idaho’s election process.
