Comprehensive Land Use Planning Update:

On Wednesday (9/30), the Middleton Township Land Use Planning Working Group held its kickoff meeting, and it was very productive.

The township has partnered with Crossroads Community Planning, a firm that specializes in helping townships like ours (including nearby Troy and Richfield Townships) navigate smart, community-focused growth.

The 8-member township resident working group brings a range of perspectives to the table. This group includes our township zoning inspector, a trustee (myself), rural residents, local business owners, subdivision residents, large landowners, and an agricultural representative.

During our first session, we dove right into analyzing our township’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats regarding land use.

What’s Next & How You Can Get Involved:

📬 Resident Survey: Keep an eye on your mailbox! A survey will be sent to every township resident in the next coming weeks. We strongly urge you to complete it and make your voice heard. Your feedback is critical in shaping our future.

🏛️ Community Open House: Once the surveys are collected and reviewed, we will host an open house where all residents can join us in person to share additional input and ideas.

We are committed to updating our land use plan in a fully transparent, collaborative way to achieve the absolute best results for our growing township.

🇺🇸 America250 Art Contest Winners Selected 🇺🇸

As part of Ohio’s celebration of America250, Middleton Township sponsored an art contest in which local students were invited to design a 5×7 postcard featuring patriotic or Middleton Township-themed artwork on the front, paired with a written note to residents 25 years in the future on the back.

From an astounding 411 total entries received, we were proud to choose the three winning entries during our annual Community Safety Day event last Saturday (9/12):

✅Grades K–4 Winner: Sydney Taylor (4th Grade, Otsego Local School District)

✅Grades 5–8 Winner: Lillian Meek (7th Grade, Perrysburg Schools)

✅Grades 9–12 Winner: Ana Rodebaugh (11th Grade, Anthony Wayne)

🔸Honorable Mention: Liam Fiordalisi (11th Grade, Eastwood Local Schools)

🔸Honorable Mention: Ava Coe (12th Grade, Otsego Local School District)

Each of our three category winners will receive an official certificate of recognition from Middleton Township, an America250 commemorative coin, a $100 gift card to Neezy's Freezes, and display of their winning artwork in both their school building and the Middleton Township administrative building.

We were truly blown away by the incredible talent, creativity, and heart that went into every submission. With so many wonderful designs and thoughtful messages, choosing the top entries was an exceptionally challenging task for our judges.

A Message to the Future:

Because every student wrote a note to the future on the back of their postcard, all 411 entries will be preserved and placed into a Middleton Township time capsule, set to be opened in 25 years (2051) during America’s 275th birthday celebration.

Thank you to all the students, parents, teachers, and school districts who participated and made this celebration so memorable, and congratulations to our winners! Your artwork and words will be cherished today and by future generations 25 years from now!
