🚑 Two recent calls highlight the value of Breezy Point’s police-based EMS program and the advanced medical training our officers bring to emergencies.

On July 4, Officer/EMT Kiel Rustad responded to a woman experiencing apparent anaphylaxis after a suspected insect sting. He quickly recognized the life-threatening reaction, administered epinephrine and other treatment, provided oxygen, and monitored her until the ambulance arrived. Her condition improved following his intervention.

On August 26, Sergeant/Paramedic Joe Garcia responded to an 87-year-old man in respiratory arrest. After the patient was resuscitated, Joe joined the ambulance crew and upgraded the transport to advanced life support (ALS), allowing paramedic-level care to continue all the way to the hospital.

These calls are powerful examples of how rapid intervention, advanced training, and teamwork can make a difference!
