Congratulations to our Bridgeton Parks & Recreation staff!

Our team competed in the 2026 Region 4 MPRA Golf Tournament in Ballwin last week, and we're proud to announce that they are repeat champions for the second year in a row! Great work by Doug, Tommy, Evan and Vicki.

The Missouri Park and Recreation Association (MPRA) plays an important role in supporting parks and recreation opportunities, programs, facilities, and trails throughout Missouri. Its mission is to “advocate for the quality of life through effective use of parks and recreation opportunities, education, and resources.”

We're proud to support an organization that makes such a positive impact on our communities, and we're happy to represent Bridgeton while showing off our golf skills alongside other Region 4 municipalities!

Thank you to MPRA for hosting another great tournament. Congratulations again to our team!

Thursdays are for DASA!👨‍🦽‍➡️

As some of you may have noticed, Court 2 in the gym will be closed on Thursday nights from 6–8 PM. Athlete Sports Association will be renting the court most every Thursday from October 1 through April 2027.

We are honored to have DASA back at our facility, creating opportunities for inclusion through adaptive sports, including wheelchair basketball! Being an inclusive facility means providing opportunities for everyone to grow, connect, and play in ways that work for them. That is such an important part of Parks and Recreation, and we are proud to support programs that help make sports and recreation accessible to all.

Thank you, DASA, for being part of our recreation community! To learn more about DASA and all they provide, check out

After a great turnout at our first Living Landscape Speaker Series in September, (hosted by the Bridgeton Beautification Commission), we want to know what you want to learn about next!

At the Fall Festival and Fireworks event, attendees grabbed a sticker and voted for the topics they’d be most interested in learning more about.

Head up to the Bridgeton Recreation Center from now until Friday at close, to vote on what you think our next topic should cover.

We wanted to share a quick update on Hellebusch Park as we head into Homecoming season!

The lake dredging and overflow pipe repairs are now complete, and crews are currently placing bank stabilization stones around the lake. Once the work is finished, the lake will need to refill naturally with Mother Nature, so it may be a little while before it returns to its normal water level.

With the ongoing construction and work around the lake, we also wanted to give everyone a heads-up that the park may not look quite like its usual self for Homecoming photos this year. If you're looking for that perfect photo backdrop, you may want to consider an alternate location while the improvements are underway.

We appreciate everyone's patience as this important work is completed and look forward to seeing the finished improvements!

Please join us in congratulating Kathy Schlag, the City of Bridgeton’s 2026 Volunteer of the Year!

For the past four years, Kathy has proudly served as Chairwoman of the Bridgeton Park Board. She has served six years total on the board, but her dedication to our community goes far beyond her role with the parks department. For more than four decades, Kathy has volunteered her time and talents in countless ways, from Cub Scouts, Sunday School, and her church’s bell choir to Carrollton Elementary School and the Pattonville High School Band Boosters.

After her sons graduated, Kathy turned her attention toward serving the broader Bridgeton community, becoming a familiar and dedicated volunteer at Parks and Recreation events and programs. From Arbor Day tree plantings and the July 4th Parade to the Fall Festival 5K, Veterans Day Breakfast, Tree Lighting, and even holiday decorating at the Recreation Center, Kathy is always willing to lend a hand wherever she is needed.

Whether she is helping with an event, sharing an idea, taking on a project, or simply stepping in when an extra hand is needed, Kathy brings the same enthusiasm and dedication to everything she does. Her countless hours of service have helped strengthen Bridgeton’s parks, programs, and community events and have made a lasting impact on the people who call Bridgeton home. Kathy truly understands the important role parks, recreation, and community events play in creating a vibrant community, and she has spent countless hours helping make Bridgeton a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

At the City of Bridgeton’s 46th Annual Boards and Commissions Dinner on September 10, Kathy was honored with the Volunteer of the Year Award by Mayor Randy Hein.

We are incredibly grateful and lucky to have Kathy share her time, passion, and dedication with our community. Congratulations, Kathy, on this very well-deserved honor!
