🚨 WARNING: Police impersonation scam targeting Brook Park residents 🚨

A Brook Park resident received a phone call from a man claiming to be “Officer Powers” with the Brook Park Police Department. Caller falsely claimed she had an arrest warrant out of Texas and asked financial questions. The resident realized it was a scam and hung up. The scam caller continued to call afterward.

The number displayed was 202-427-9194. The resident reported no financial loss, and a responding officer helped her block the number. Brook Park police would not call people asking those questions.

Please be alert to callers claiming to be police officers, threatening arrest, and seeking personal or financial information.

Share this warning with family, friends, and neighbors—especially older loved ones—to help others recognize the same scam.

Please join us in welcoming Ptl. Sean Bruce and K9 Loki as they begin their journey together!

Ptl. Bruce and Loki have officially started their training at Excel K9, where they will work side-by-side to become a highly trained dual-purpose K9 team serving the City of Brook Park, along with K9 Odin and K9 Murph.

This journey will take dedication, patience, teamwork, and countless hours of training. More importantly, it’s the beginning of a partnership built on trust, loyalty, and a shared commitment to keeping our community safe.

We are excited to watch this team grow and look forward to the day they return home ready to serve Brook Park together.

The Brook Park Police Department announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 7pm to 11pm tonight on West 130th Street, in the City of Brook Park. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to combat impaired driver-related injury and fatal crashes. If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.

Brook Park Police plans OVI sobriety checkpoint Thursday, August 27th 2026.
(City of Brook Park) - The Brook Park Police announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held Thursday August 27th in the evening. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Based on provisional data, from January 1st to August 16th 2026, there have been 229 alcohol-related crashes in Cuyahoga County, in which 13 people tragically lost their lives. Ohio law prohibits the operation of motor vehicles while under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs.
The location of the checkpoint will be announced Thursday morning.
