WISCONSIN MOVE OVER DAY 2026 — MOVE OVER OR SLOW DOWN. SAVE LIVES.
Saturday, October 17, 2026
The Brown Deer Police Department reminds everyone that National Move Over Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of protecting first responders, roadside workers, and stranded motorists.
Every day, police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, tow truck operators, highway workers, and everyday motorists face serious dangers along our roadways. A simple action behind the wheel can make all the difference.
🛑 Know the law. Do your part.
✅ MOVE OVER to an available lane when it is safe to do so.
✅ SLOW DOWN if you cannot safely move over or are traveling on a roadway with only one lane in your direction.
✅ STAY ALERT and keep your eyes on the road.
✅ PUT THE PHONE DOWN and eliminate distractions.
Wisconsin's Move Over Law also protects motorists stopped roadside under qualifying conditions, including vehicles with hazard lights activated.
Every person working or stranded along the roadside deserves to make it home safely. Please give them room to do their jobs and get home to their families.
Your choices behind the wheel can save a life. Move over or slow down. Every time.
