Veterans Day Celebration – Help Us Honor Your Heroes!

We’re preparing a special Veterans Day celebration on November 11th, and we’d love to honor the veterans in your family!

If you have a loved one who has served in the military, please fill out this quick form so we can include them in our tribute.

Come enjoy a cup of hot cocoa and pick up a free coat if you need one. This event is hosted by our 7th-grade class and Student Council.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we’ve collected MORE THAN 250 coats, jackets, and sweaters to share with those in need. If you or someone you know could use a little extra warmth this winter, please stop by—we’d love to see you!

We have an exciting opportunity coming up! Our school will be participating in the Treasure Valley Night Lights Parade, and we need your help to make it a blast for everyone along the route.

Our parade budget for treats is limited, so we're reaching out for donations of candy to pass out!

We need your help stocking our candy stash!

Leftovers: Did your family end up with a mountain of leftover Halloween candy? We'll gladly take it off your hands!

Discount Shopping: If you're planning on shopping the post-holiday discount sales, please consider picking up a bag or two of candy to donate!

Every piece helps us represent HCCS wonderfully at the parade!

You can drop off your candy donations at the main office or send them in with your student. Feel free to share this post with family, friends and community! Thank you for helping us make our parade float a sweet success!

🚌 Bus 79 Timing Update – Starts Today!

Just a heads-up: Bus 79 itself hasn’t changed—students will still be riding the same bus. The only adjustment is to stop times:

Early riders will arrive about 5 minutes earlier

Late riders will arrive about 5–10 minutes later

There’s no need to contact Brown Bus about a bus change—it’s simply a schedule adjustment. As long as you're allowing for the extra time, everyone should be good to go.

🚌 Important Bus 79 Update – New Routes Start TODAY!

Due to high ridership, Brown Bus is splitting Bus 79 into two loops—an early and a late route—to ensure all students ride safely and comfortably.

Students should have received a note from their bus driver with their assigned route and stop time. If you haven’t seen this info yet, please contact Brown Bus at 208-455-2532 ASAP to avoid any confusion.

🎃 It’s Trunk or Treat Night at HCCS! 👻

Tonight’s the night—we’re so excited to welcome everyone to our first-ever Trunk or Treat from 5–7pm!

🎨 Participants can start arriving at 4pm to set up and decorate their trunks. Please park in any open space within the designated trunk area and help us use the space wisely—we’ve got lots of festive setups coming in!

🚗 Guests should arrive at 5pm and park in the areas shown on the map. Overflow parking is available in the field next to the school.

A HUGE thank you to all our amazing volunteers and everyone who donated candy and treats—you’ve helped make this event truly special.

We can’t wait to see your costumes, creativity, and community spirit tonight!

Fall Picture Day is next Wednesday, October 29th!

Students should be bringing home order packets this week for families who’d like to purchase photos.

A few quick tips:

• Return packets with correct change or a check (made out to Dorian Studios) before or on picture day
• Or order online at mydorian.com (search for Heritage Community Charter School!)
• Online orders accepted up to 4 days after picture day
• Uniforms with logos are required

🎃 Trunk or Treat Is THIS Friday! 🎃

HCCS families—our 1st ever Trunk or Treat is happening this Friday, October 24th from 5–7pm, and we can’t wait to see you there! Come enjoy a fun-filled evening of costumes, candy, and community cheer.

There’s still time to sign up if you’d like to host a trunk! Whether you’re a parent, staff member, or local business, we’d love to have you join the fun.

Our 2nd Grade students are leading a service-learning project to collect Pop Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Boise. RMHC provides a vital "home-away-from-home" for families with seriously ill children receiving hospital treatment. Every tab we collect is recycled, and the funds raised directly support their amazing cause.

Please save any metallic pull tab from:
* Soda, energy drinks, and other beverage cans
* Soup, fruit, and vegetable cans
* Any item with a pull tab!

Send the tabs to school with your child. They can be dropped off in the school office or directly to Mrs. Affleck's room. Our 2nd graders are collecting tabs through the end of the school year so let's help them make a BIG impact!
