September 11, 2001. We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
Twenty-five years later, the events of 9/11 still remind us of the incredible cost of that day. Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives — including 343 firefighters, 23 New York City police officers, 8 EMS providers and many other responders as well as who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks.
For those of us in emergency services, September 11 carries a particular weight.
This morning, between calls, our crews took time to pause and remember. We talked about where we were when the attacks happened. We shared memories and stories. And we talked with members of our department who were too young to remember that day firsthand — making sure that the stories, the sacrifice, and the lessons of September 11 are never lost.
We remember the civilians who never made it home.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, and other first responders who ran toward danger.
We remember the families who were forever changed.
And we remember the courage and selflessness displayed in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
As EMS providers, we carry forward a simple responsibility: to answer the call, to care for others, and to never forget those who gave everything while answering theirs.
25 years later, their sacrifice still matters.
🇺🇸 Never Forget.
