Leaf Collection Reminder 🍂

• Timing: Runs from the third week of October through the first full week of December.
• How to place: Rake leaves directly into the street along the curb line.
• Important rules: Keep branches, bricks, and stones out of piles to avoid damaging machinery; avoid parking near leaf piles, and note that there are no alley pickups.

Large Item Pickup

• Scheduling: Call Penn Waste at (717) 767-4456 at least 48 hours in advance of your regular pickup day.
• Limit: One item per week for residential trash contract customers.
• Accepted items: Furniture, mattresses, appliances, tires without rims, scrap metal, and bundled carpet under 48 inches.

Tree Trimming Maintenance

• Clearance rules: Trim branches overhanging streets to at least 12 feet high and sidewalk clearance to 8 feet high so sweepers can pass safely.

Get ready for a spooky night in New Cumberland! 🎃👻

Join the New Cumberland River Rescue for their annual Halloween Parade on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. The parade route runs along Bridge Street from 16th Street all the way down to 3rd Street and Reno Avenue. Bring the whole family out to line the streets and enjoy the festivities!

New Cumberland Borough is excited to announce that we received a grant from TreePennsylvania for 16 bare-root trees to be planted at Borough Park and on borough property on 12th Street. The trees are a variety of maples, redbuds, locusts, and oaks.

The trees will be delivered in early November. We are looking for volunteers to “adopt a tree” and assist with tree maintenance and care. If you are interested, please contact the borough offices, leave your name and contact information, and someone will reach out to you.

🍂 Fall Cleanup & Leaf Collection in New Cumberland Borough! 🍂

As the leaves begin to turn, here is everything you need to know to keep our streets clean and our equipment running smoothly this season:

• Leaf Collection: Begins the 3rd week of October and runs through the 1st full week of December. Please rake all leaves into the street directly at the curb line.

• Yard Waste Collection: Scheduled for Saturday, October 17. Place yard waste in biodegradable brown paper bags or bundle with biodegradable twine (max 5 ft long, 6 in diameter, 30 lbs). Plastic bags will not be collected.

• Street Sweeping: Sweepers operate in conjunction with leaf collection equipment to sweep roadways before and after collection.

Important Guidelines to Remember:

• No Debris in Leaf Piles: Please keep branches, sticks, bricks, and stones out of leaf piles to prevent damage to collection machinery.

• Avoid Parking Near Piles: Park vehicles away from curb-line leaf piles so crews can access the curb line.

• No Alley Pick-Ups: Leaf collection is street-side only.

Mark your calendars! The Annual Apple Festival is returning for it's 40th year to New Cumberland Borough Park on Saturday, September 26. 🍎

Organized by the New Cumberland Olde Towne Association, this cherished community tradition brings together local residents and visitors for a full day of family fun, live music, and fall festivities.

Event Details:

• Date: Saturday, September 26

• Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Location: New Cumberland Borough Park (Front & Reno Streets)

What to expect:

• Live musical entertainment from opening until closing

• Dozens of handmade craft vendors

• Delicious food stands and local treats

• Family activities and contests

Transportation & Parking: Trolley service will pick up and deliver guests along Bridge Street at Third Street, Seventh Street, Park Avenue, and Haldeman Boulevard. Limited parking is available behind the West Shore Senior Citizens Center on Reno Street.

Good to know:

• Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a short leash at all times for the safety of all attendees.

• Proceeds from the festival directly benefit our community, supporting the Fire Department, Police Department, local youth organizations, and borough revitalization projects.
