FLOOD RESPONSE UPDATE – GO EVACUATION STATUS LIFTED IN MULTIPLE AREAS.

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office would like to inform residents that the GO evacuation status has been lifted in multiple affected areas throughout the community. Residents in these areas may now return to their homes.

While the immediate flooding threat has passed, additional hazards remain throughout areas impacted by the recent flooding. We strongly encourage everyone returning to their properties to use extreme caution and remain alert.

⚠️ IMPORTANT ELECTRICAL SAFETY NOTICE

Residents are strongly advised to avoid using electrical sources, electrical appliances, or attempting to restore power to affected properties until Arizona Public Service (APS) has had an opportunity to assess and address electrical safety concerns.

Floodwaters can damage electrical systems, wiring, outlets, and appliances, creating potentially life-threatening hazards.

Please also remain aware of the following:

* Damaged roads, bridges, and road shoulders.
* Debris, mud, and unstable ground.
* Damaged infrastructure and utilities.
* Potentially contaminated well water or compromised septic systems.
* Unmarked hazards and changing road conditions.

Please do not bypass barricades or enter areas that remain closed.

We appreciate the patience, cooperation, and resilience of our community throughout these challenging events. Our public safety personnel, Town employees, and emergency response partners continue working diligently to assist our residents and restore normal operations.

Although the immediate threat has passed, recovery is still underway. Please continue to look out for one another and stay safe.

COURAGE. COMMITMENT. COMMUNITY.

Over the past several days, our Camp Verde Marshal’s Office deputies have demonstrated extraordinary bravery, dedication, and commitment to the community they proudly serve.

Throughout the flooding events impacting our town, our deputies have worked tirelessly alongside fire personnel, emergency responders, public works crews, and other partner agencies. From assisting with evacuations and helping stranded motorists to responding to emergencies and checking on the welfare of our residents, our deputies have stepped up when our community needed them most.

These efforts are more than just a job. They represent the commitment our deputies make every day to protect and serve the people of Camp Verde, often under challenging and unpredictable circumstances.

We are incredibly proud of the men and women of the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office who have answered the call without hesitation. Their actions are a reminder that public safety is not simply a profession; it is a commitment to others and to the community we call home.

To our deputies and all of our public safety partners who have worked around the clock during these events, THANK YOU!

This is the service we are proud to provide to our community, day in and day out.

A message to our community from Mayor Marie Moore.

Over the past few days, Camp Verde has experienced historic flooding. Our first responders and public works crews have been working around the clock, performing swift-water rescues and going door to door to keep our neighbors safe.

If you are in a flood-prone area, please stay alert and follow all evacuation orders:

Know your zone: download the Genasys Protect app or check evacuation statuses through the Camp Verde Marshal's Office.

Shelter: Camp Verde Middle School Gymnasium, 370 Camp Lincoln Road (large animals: Verde Valley Fairgrounds).

Sandbags are available at sites across the community — take them if you are in a low-lying area.

Never drive through flooded low-water crossings or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown.

If your home or business was impacted by the flooding, the Town is working to document damage and connect residents and business owners with recovery resources. Watch for the business damage-assessment survey and recovery programs coming through the Town's channels, and visit campverde.az.gov for the latest updates.

We are Camp Verde. We take care of each other. Please check on your neighbors, especially those who are elderly or living alone.

PUBLIC INFORMATION RELEASE
ANIMAL ABUSE INVESTIGATION – WEST GRIPPEN ROAD

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office is aware of community concerns regarding the reported condition and welfare of numerous horses that were previously located on a property along West Grippen Road in Camp Verde.

We want to assure our community that this matter is being taken seriously and remains an active investigation, which has been ongoing since the afternoon of November 1, 2026.

Camp Verde Animal Control, along side sworn deputies and the criminal investigations unit, is actively working to collect evidence, document relevant findings, and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the welfare of these animals.

We understand the community’s concern for the well-being of these horses and appreciate those who have brought information forward. We ask that anyone who has factual, firsthand, or otherwise relevant information regarding this investigation contact Camp Verde Animal Control.

Please allow investigators the time and opportunity to conduct a complete and thorough investigation. We will provide additional information when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise the ongoing investigation.

Thank you for your continued concern for animal welfare and your support of our community.

Please be advised that schools are in session this week, and Montezuma Castle Highway remains closed between Hauser Farms and Camp Lincoln Road.

Parents, students, and motorists needing access to the our school complex must use Interstate 17 (I-17) to access Montezuma Castle to our schools.

Please plan accordingly, allow additional travel time, and use caution while traveling in the area.

We ask everyone to follow posted road closures, barricades, and directions from emergency personnel.

TEMPORARY SHELTER UPDATE FOR THOSE WITH PETS

We want to clarify that the emergency shelter and animal shelter are located at two separate locations.

Residents evacuating with small animals must first drop off their animals at 51 E. Hollamon Street, on the park side of the building, before checking into the emergency shelter at the middle school gym.

Unfortunately, the middle school gym is unable to accommodate animals. However, Animal Disaster Services is providing care for the animals at the separate location. Please be assured that the animals are safe and being well cared for.

No residents are being turned away from the emergency shelter. We understand that some residents may be uncomfortable being separated from their pets, but this arrangement is necessary to safely accommodate both residents and animals.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation during this emergency.

CAMP VERDE COMMUNITY: IMPORTANT FLOOD RECOVERY AND WATER SAFETY INFORMATION

As our community begins recovering from the recent flooding, the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office wants to share several important resources and safety reminders provided by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).

Floodwaters can introduce bacteria, sewage, chemicals, and other contaminants into private wells and household water systems. Even if your well was not directly submerged, contamination may still be possible.

PLEASE REVIEW THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS:

đź’§ Private Well Water

* Do not drink water from a private well that has been flooded until it has been properly inspected, disinfected, and tested.
* If your water appears cloudy, muddy, or has an unusual taste or odor, do not consume it.
* Use bottled or otherwise confirmed safe water for drinking, cooking, and brushing your teeth until your water source is verified safe.
* Contact a qualified well or pump contractor for assistance.

🏠 Returning Home and Cleanup

* Have electrical systems inspected before restoring power to flooded areas.
* Keep children and pets away from affected areas until cleanup is complete.
* Wear protective equipment, including gloves, boots, and eye protection.
* Watch for mold growth and properly remove flood-damaged materials.
* Never enter standing floodwater or approach downed power lines.

🦟 Additional Health Concerns

* Standing water can increase mosquito populations and the risk of mosquito-borne illness.
* If you have been exposed to floodwaters and have open wounds, consult your healthcare provider about tetanus protection.

WATER QUALITY UPDATE – VERDE LAKES

The Camp Verde Marshal’s Office would like to provide an update regarding drinking water concerns in the Verde Lakes area.

CVMO personnel have just spoken directly with management from the Verde Lakes Water Company. According to their management, the water is currently safe to drink, and there are no reported issues with their aquifers.

We appreciate the community’s concerns and will continue working with local water providers to help keep residents informed as conditions develop.

Please continue to rely on verified information from official sources and remain vigilant regarding water safety throughout our community. If you are on a private well or have any concerns about the safety of your water, please ensure that you boil the water before usage.
