Central City Fire Department and Greenville Fire Department hosted a vehicle extrication training class on Tuesday, October 20th.

This training presented a different challenge than typical extrication scenarios, with one vehicle positioned on its side and another on its roof. Participants worked through numerous hands-on exercises covering scene size-up, vehicle stabilization, extrication techniques, patient treatment, and patient removal from the vehicle. These exercises were designed to simulate realistic situations and challenge firefighters to think critically, adapt, and safely perform extrication operations.

We appreciate the participation of Central City, Greenville, Graham, and Nelson Creek Fire Departments as we continue to train together, learn from one another, and strengthen our ability to serve our communities.

Fire Prevention Month with B-Shift

B-Shift was honored to be invited to the Muhlenberg County Public Library in Central City to spend time with children and share important fire safety tips.

During the visit, our firefighters read to the kids, discussed fire safety, and demonstrated what a firefighter looks like in full protective gear. This gave the children an opportunity to become more familiar with firefighters and better understand the equipment we wear.

After learning about fire safety, B-Shift joined the kids for some coloring fun! We’re not sure who enjoyed the coloring more…the kids or our firefighters!

At Central City Fire Department, we are grateful for every opportunity to connect with our community, educate the next generation, and help children and adults learn how to stay safe.

A big thank-you to the Muhlenberg County Public Library for inviting us out and helping make this visit possible!

Today, October 1st, marks the beginning of Kentucky’s fall fire season, which runs October 1–December 15.

As we head into the fire season, the Central City Fire Department wants to remind everyone:

🌲 Outdoor burning is restricted during fire season.
🔥 Burning is only permitted between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, unless the ground is covered with snow.
📏 Keep burn piles at least 150 feet from any woodland or brushland.
💧 Always have a water source and shovel nearby.
👀 Never leave a fire unattended make sure it is completely out before you leave.

Before you burn, check for any additional local burning restrictions or bans that may be in effect.

Please burn responsibly and help us prevent wildfires before they start.

A few minutes of preparation can prevent hours of firefighting and potentially save homes, property, and lives.

🚨 BIG NEWS FOR CENTRAL CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT! 🚨

We are proud to announce that the Central City Fire Department has been awarded $411,000 through the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program! 🔥

This funding will allow us to outfit all of our firefighters with new turnout gear and MSA G1 SCBA air packs, replacing aging and outdated equipment that our members rely on every day.

This isn’t just new equipment it’s an investment in the safety of the men and women who answer the call, and ultimately an investment in the safety of our community.

Securing this grant took a tremendous amount of hard work, preparation, dedication, and commitment from the Central City Fire Department. We are proud of the effort our members put into making this possible.

Our job is to be ready when you need us. That means constantly training, constantly improving, and constantly looking for ways to become better.

We strive to constantly be better for you.

Thank you to everyone who supports Central City Fire Department and the men and women who serve this community. We are proud to serve you, and we’re going to continue working hard to make sure Central City is ready.

🚒 Be ready. Be relentless. Be the difference.

Beginning at 10 am and ending upon completion of services, Greenville Fire Department will be providing coverage to our district, while our department attends the funeral of CCPD Officer Jason Phillips.
While the apparatus and firefighters may look different, we can assure you there will not be a change in response to any emergency calls our department receives.
We greatly appreciate the City of Greenville for providing staffing and extending their coverage for our district.
If you happen to see those guys out tomorrow, say hello and give them a thank you.
