I'm originally from Southwest Virginia, but I was in a military family and we moved a lot! I moved to Chattanooga in 2007 and made Red Bank my forever home in 2010. After graduating from the Tennessee public school system, I earned my Bachelor's in English at East Tennessee State University and, many years later, I went back to school and obtained my Master's in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. Helping and serving people has always been my passion and purpose in life, and I've been fortunate to be able to serve people in a diverse array of settings: mental health, healthcare, the justice system, public schools, and through many community organizations. I've also worked in retail and in office settings, so I know how important it is to hear others' needs and perspectives and work with them to find common ground. I strive always to be a good listener, to be kind, to be welcoming, and to be empathetic, and I will work tirelessly for my community. My purpose here was and is not to win a seat on the Red Bank Commission to help myself, but to be a voice for all of my friends and neighbors here in Red Bank.

✨✨ TODAY, 10/29, IS THE LAST DAY OF EARLY VOTING ✨✨

All Hamilton County early voting locations are open until 6:00 PM, except the Election Commission which is open until 7:00 PM!

If you can't get out to vote today, you have ONE chance left to vote on Election Day, Tuesday November 3rd (just FIVE days from now)!

Use your voice! Make a difference! ONE vote can change everything!

And if you're in Red Bank, please vote FOR the Charter referendum -- we are 99% updating our Charter to reflect changes in state law that have happened in the TWENTY-SIX years since our Charter was last updated (even though the Charter itself says it shall be reviewed and updated every five years -- rest assured, we'll be on top of this moving forward)! The only other things the Charter Citizen Advisory Board recommended were removing references to "Justice of the Peace," as we don't have those anymore, and residency requirements for certain director-level positions (has not been followed in decades, long before I was elected).

NOW, GO VOTE! ✌️

When I read this today, I teared up a little. I can only speak for myself and as a witness to some of the commissioners I've been lucky to serve alongside, but public service and the work of local government is often hard, frequently challenging, and many times thankless. And that's okay! We do the work proudly because it's worth doing. But being a public servant, especially as a woman/wife/mother, has been one of the most difficult things I've ever done in my life. I and other women I serve with have been verbally assaulted, demeaned, denigrated, harassed, and threatened, in person and online. A commercial property owner here in Red Bank told a friend of mine (not knowing they were a friend) that "someone needs to send those GIRLS down the river." Literally, someone said Hollie and I needed to be murdered. Most of the people who say these things, who are truly some of the most hateful and vicious human beings I've ever known, have never met us or talked to us or tried to get to know us. Some of them said these things to our faces. Some of them are neighbors who live on our own streets. Nevermind that we are real human beings who have families, children, pets, other loved ones, and who work in other ways professionally (one of my colleagues is a public school teacher, one an artist, one an engineer, and I'm a social worker at an emergency mental health hospital). What I'm getting at is that I see those people -- to paraphrase the great Maya Angelou: They showed me who they are and I believe them. But I also see the countless neighbors out there who see us and the work we are all doing together. They're in this with us. They're in this to leave this place better than we found it. They're in this not just for the neighbors who are here today, but for the neighbors we have yet to meet, the neighbors who are yet to be born. And I'm so darn grateful to be here with them 🫶

I am writing to publicly express my gratitude to Red Bank City Comm. Terri Holmes and Mayor Stefanie Dalton for an incredible display of effective, responsiv...

Happy Happy Pride, Red Bank and Chattanooga! We see you and love you just as you are! 🫶🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🫶

And while it was windy and chilly as heck, it was so, so good to walk with friends and neighbors in the spirit of love and joyful existence. I was carrying this Red Bank sign and I can't tell you how many times I heard folks say "Yeah, Red Bank!" and "Way to go, Red Bank!" and "Woohoo, that's my neighborhood!" That's RIGHT -- it is YOUR neighborhood,, because EVERYONE is welcome and belongs here! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🤎🤍🩷🩵🩶🖤
