Reminder it is NOT open burning season. There are NO open fires allowed. Burning season begins in January and runs through May but we have seen a lot of residents burning piles of brush. The woods are very dry currently and any open fires would spread very rapidly. Please don’t burn.

We want to let everyone know that currently there is a large wildland fire burning at the New York/Massachusetts border. Smoke from that fire is currently over many parts of Cheshire, especially on the north side. As of now, there is no danger to Cheshire, but we wanted to let everyone know because the smell and the presence of smoke is very obvious throughout town. Please though, if you suspect a fire in town somewhere, don’t hesitate to call us to make sure. Some of our mutual aid partners in North County are on scene and helping to extinguish and contain this large fire.

By now you have hopefully heard that we have postponed our annual Cruz Nite to Sunday, August 9th 4-9pm

But, we would like to take this time to thank some of our long term partners that help make this event such a huge success each year. This marks the 34th year that the Cheshire Fire Department has held this event. It wouldn’t be possible without the support from the following local businesses and organizations each year;

Berkshire-Pittsfield Septic
Village Truck Sales
Delmolino & Sons
Berkshire County Night CruZers

Thank you for your continued support of the CFDN

We’ll see you all tomorrow when Shut Up and Dance takes the Village Truck Sales stage. Enjoy classic cars, games, tons of local food vendors, beverages, and much more!
