🎃👻 Happy Halloween! 👻🎃

Halloween is a night full of fun—but it's also one of the busiest nights of the year for pedestrians, especially children. Whether you're driving or trick-or-treating, everyone has a role to play in keeping our communities safe.

🎃 Drivers:
🚗 Slow down in neighborhoods and residential areas.
👀 Watch carefully for children who may cross the street unexpectedly.

🌙 Be extra alert—dark costumes can make trick-or-treaters difficult to see.

🍬 Trick-or-Treaters:
✨ Wear reflective clothing, glow sticks, or reflective accessories to help drivers see you.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Travel in groups whenever possible and stick to sidewalks or well-lit areas.

🔦 Carry a flashlight or other light source to improve visibility.

🐾 Don't forget your furry friends!

Use reflective leashes, collars, or lights to help keep pets visible and safe during evening walks.

Have a fun, safe, and happy Halloween! 🎃🍬

🌅➡️🌙 Daylight Saving Time Ends – Stay Alert After Dark 🌙➡️🌅

As we turn our clocks back and daylight hours grow shorter, many evening commutes will take place after dark. Reduced visibility means everyone needs to be extra cautious on the road.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), approximately 77% of pedestrian crashes in 2023 occurred in the dark.

Whether you're behind the wheel or on foot, you can help keep everyone safe:
🚗 Drivers:
👀 Slow down and scan carefully for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other vulnerable road users—especially near intersections, crosswalks, schools, and neighborhoods.

📵 Eliminate distractions and keep your full attention on the road.
🚶 Pedestrians:
✨ Wear bright or reflective clothing when walking after dark.
🔦 Carry a flashlight or use a light if possible, and always cross at designated crosswalks when available.

As the days get shorter, let's look out for one another. A little extra attention can help everyone get home safely.

🚗 Teen Safe Driving Week 🚗
Getting a driver’s license is an exciting milestone—but driving is also a serious responsibility. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for teens ages 15–18.

Safe driving habits start from day one. Teens can help protect themselves, their passengers, and everyone on the road by:
✅ Following the rules of the Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) program—these restrictions are designed to help new drivers gain experience safely.

📵 Eliminating distractions—put your phone away, turn on “Do Not Disturb” or “Driving Mode,” and focus on the road.

👥 Being a responsible passenger and driver—speak up when something feels unsafe and avoid risky behaviors behind the wheel.
🛑 Remembering that driving is a privilege, not a right—earning and keeping that privilege requires making safe choices every trip.
Distracted driving is a major factor in teen crashes. One notification, one text, or one moment of inattention can change a life.

Make the safe choice every time you drive. Your future—and the lives of others—depend on it.

🚗⬇️ National Move Over Day – October 17 ⬇️🚗

A simple action can help protect lives: slow down and move over.
Roadways can be dangerous places, especially for people working or standing outside of a vehicle. When you see flashing lights ahead—whether it’s a construction zone, emergency responders, law enforcement, or a vehicle stopped with hazard lights on—take extra caution.

Remember:
✅ Slow down as you approach.
✅ Move over when it is safe and possible to do so.
✅ If you can’t move over safely, slow down and wait before passing.
Giving space to those on the roadside isn’t just the courteous thing to do—it’s the law.
Help keep our roads safer for everyone. 🚧🚓
