c. 1982 -- 2010. A unique venue founded and operated by musician and composer Fred Anderson. It was a stage for creative music and a meeting place for all.

This fan page honors Fred Anderson and his Velvet Lounge, which closed in November 2010. We continue to use it to post news, information, tributes and photographs related to the history of Fred, the little club that was his pride and joy and the universe of musicians and fans that are related to his life's work. Dieter and The Neighbors were the first to include Fred on a record and tour Europe. Our thoughts are with Hans Glawischnig and his family.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dieter Glawischnig.

As our former Chief Conductor, he played a defining role in the history of our orchestra. Taking over the NDR Studio Band in 1973, he helped shape its transformation into the NDR Bigband in 1980 and was instrumental in securing its future. Until 2008, he guided our orchestra with his musical vision, dedication and passion for jazz, leaving a legacy that continues to resonate today.
We are deeply grateful for everything he contributed to our music and our history. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who knew him.

Rest in peace, Dieter.

Mit großer Trauer nehmen wir Abschied von Dieter Glawischnig.

Als unser ehemaliger Chefdirigent hat er die Geschichte unseres Orchesters entscheidend geprägt. 1973 übernahm er die Leitung der damaligen NDR-Studioband, entwickelte sie ab 1980 zur NDR Bigband weiter und setzte sich maßgeblich für ihren Fortbestand ein.
Bis 2008 prägte er unser Orchester mit seiner musikalischen Vision, seinem Engagement und seiner Leidenschaft für den Jazz. Sein Wirken bleibt bis heute ein wichtiger Teil unserer Geschichte.
Wir sind ihm für alles, was er für unsere Musik und unser Orchester geleistet hat, zutiefst dankbar. Unsere Gedanken sind bei seiner Familie, seinen Freunden und allen, die ihm nahestanden.

Ruhe in Frieden, Dieter.
