A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to sit down with Kelly Marriott, our Henry County Clerk, and learn more about her position and everything her office does.

And let me tell you, I learned a lot!

The County Clerk’s office is basically the nerve center of Henry County! From payroll and budgets to elections and so much more, there is a lot happening behind the scenes that most of us never realize.

What impressed me was how well everything runs. Those ladies have their responsibilities down to a well-oiled machine, and it shows!

If you ever get the opportunity, stop by and visit with Kelly and the ladies in her office. You might be surprised by just how much they do to keep our county running.

Thank you, Kelly, for taking the time to sit down with me, answer my questions, and share your knowledge. I truly appreciate it!

The more I learn about the different offices in our county, the more I realize just how important it is to understand what each one does and how they all work together.

🇺🇸 One week until Election Day!

November 3rd is just seven days away!

This is a good time to check your voting plans, review the ballot, and make sure you know where and when you can vote.

Local elections are an opportunity to learn more about the people who make decisions affecting our roads, budgets, public services, and communities.

I've appreciated the conversations and questions throughout this election season.

Here's to an informed and involved Henry County!

County government doesn’t start over on January 1.

The slate isn’t wiped clean on December 31, and we don’t start from scratch with a new year or a new commissioner.

The decisions made today, the contracts already in place, the issues that have been resolved, and the ones still being worked on will all carry forward.

That’s why I believe anyone seeking a position in county government should be attending meetings, following the issues, asking questions, and staying informed about what’s happening in our county.

There is a difference between knowing what needs to be done and knowing what has already been done.

I’ve shown up, and I’m already putting in the work. I’m attending commission meetings, asking questions, and when I can’t be there in person, I’m watching and keeping up with what’s happening. I’m not waiting until January 1 to start learning about the issues facing Henry County.

The work of county government doesn’t stop for an election, and neither should our attention to it.

Being informed isn’t something that begins after taking office.

Election Day is November 3. I’m asking for your vote.

💰 Let's talk about budgets!

One thing owning a business has taught me is that just because you want something doesn't mean the money is there to pay for it! 😂

Sometimes you have to make tough choices, prioritize what matters, and plan for expenses you know are coming.

County government has financial responsibilities, too.

The commission plays an important role in reviewing and adopting the county budget, balancing competing needs, and making decisions within Missouri law.

I think residents deserve to understand where their tax dollars go and why financial decisions are made.

What would you like county officials to explain more clearly about the budget?

❤️ Always be kind. You never know what someone is going through. Today could be the worst day of their life or the best day they’ve ever had. A simple smile, a kind word, or a little grace can mean more than you know. Kindness costs nothing, but it can mean everything. ❤️

❤️ A little Sunday appreciation for Henry County!

One of my favorite things about our county is how people come together when someone needs help.

I've seen it through Angel Tree, Coats for Kids, fundraisers, and neighbors simply looking out for one another.

There are so many people doing good things behind the scenes who never ask for recognition.

Those people deserve a little appreciation, too!

Who is someone in Henry County who always seems to show up when help is needed?

Give them a shout-out in the comments. ❤️

🌱 What does growth look like for Henry County?

I'd love to see more opportunities for our families, local businesses, and younger generations.

But I also believe growth comes with questions we shouldn't be afraid to ask.

What will it mean for our roads? Our emergency services? Our schools? Our taxpayers?

I've learned from running a business that decisions made today can affect your budget for years to come.

To me, responsible growth means looking at both the opportunities and the long-term costs.

What kind of growth would you like to see in Henry County?

💜 I'm not a politician, and I'm certainly not going to pretend to be one! 😂

I'm a business owner who knows what it's like to stretch a dollar, make payroll, and work long hours to keep things going.

I'm someone who took Angel Tree from helping children in one school district to helping over 500 kids across Henry County every Christmas.

I'm a wife, a mom, and a Mawmaw who thinks about the kind of community we're leaving for the next generation.

I've never been afraid to get my hands dirty, ask hard questions, or stand up for what I believe is right.

I don't have all the answers, and I won't pretend that I do.

But I know how to research a problem, work with people, manage money, and get things done.

I'm running because I believe Henry County deserves leadership that understands the job and puts the people first.

On November 3rd, I'm asking for your vote for Presiding Commissioner!

🗳️ Voting starts today!

Today marks the beginning of no-excuse in-person absentee voting in Missouri for the November 3rd election!

If Election Day is going to be busy, this is an opportunity to get your voting done ahead of time.

Before casting your ballot, take a little time to learn about the candidates, their experience, and what the offices they're running for actually do.

Every election matters, but local elections have a direct impact on the communities we call home.

You can check voting information with the Henry County Clerk's Office.

Make a plan, ask questions, and let your voice be heard! 🇺🇸
